Now that I am back in Kentucky - how wussy would it be of me to go to my childhood optometrist? He is only 2 hours away and he knows all about my issues with the eye charts - for those of you who don't know - I get stomach cramps over the issue of which is better? A or B. Because they are both so different. I don't know! This is not an objective test! A is sharper than B, but everything is also flatter. B is fuzzier but everything is in proportion. This is really a question of aesthetics, isn't it? And somedays I might like in focus and out of proportion and somedays I might prefer things a bit fuzzier but looking less fun house mirror and you are asking me to make this decision now!! ACCKK!! Also, I have a tendency to feel like the "what is the smallest line you can read?" is a test and I have to strain and squint to make out the truly smallest line - otherwise it is like lying. I *can* read that last line. Eventually.

My old eye doctor knows this about me. I think it would be easier for me to go back to him, than find a new one. But it is 2 hours away. Damn.

Lexington People: Any Rec's for a good eye doc? Or - any I should avoid like the plague?

Apparently I am not the only person who suffers from performance anxiety at the eye doctor's. It seems most of this stems from the fact that I really have no idea why the optometrist is doing what it is that she does. It seems very mysterious and arbitrary and of course I am sweating about giving the wrong answer - I don't understand what it is they are looking for, so how can I make an informed choice? [livejournal.com profile] qafhappy then sweeps in and makes it all better in the comments of my last post. She explains things and really, it is just fascinating.

I feel much better about the whole deal.

I now wish I had made certain I had a Clark-In-Glasses icon cause this would be the perfect post for it. That was my big disappointment last week, you know. No glasses. They give and then they take. Why can't we have kryptonite retinal damage every week??
