Apparently I am not the only person who suffers from performance anxiety at the eye doctor's. It seems most of this stems from the fact that I really have no idea why the optometrist is doing what it is that she does. It seems very mysterious and arbitrary and of course I am sweating about giving the wrong answer - I don't understand what it is they are looking for, so how can I make an informed choice? [livejournal.com profile] qafhappy then sweeps in and makes it all better in the comments of my last post. She explains things and really, it is just fascinating.

I feel much better about the whole deal.

I now wish I had made certain I had a Clark-In-Glasses icon cause this would be the perfect post for it. That was my big disappointment last week, you know. No glasses. They give and then they take. Why can't we have kryptonite retinal damage every week??

OMG. I have huge eye exam anxiety. I hate getting the answers wrong, even though I know that the doctors are only trying to help me. They just seem so judgemental and there's always this little silence after you've read out the letters incorrectly. :))

We need to form a support group and go in buoyed by information. We will be an unstoppable force. We will change things! Especially if we can see.

my eyes- so taking my contacts out to take the tests just leaves me feeling very vulnerable. Went to a new doctor this last time and he didn't quite believe me when I said- "I've got bad eyes so start near the end of the scale"- so took quite a while to get to even being able to see TOP of chart let alone bottom of chart.

*starts crossing fingers now that Clark will either wear glasses or rip his shirt off after getting wet or sooty tomorrow night*

**Oooooh! or all of that- wears glasses while ripping shirt off after getting first sooty than wet and Lex watches while wearing tight black shirt & brown pants outfit again*

I am sooo right there with you!

On the blind thang and the Clark shirtless and in glasses.

I can't see the Big E - you know the one they shine on the wall. I have no earthly idea where it is unless they tell me.

And this last time- to start off after having me sit down in the dim-lighted room without my contacts in- he handed me a card & asked me to hold it as I would normally read & recite the top line. Well, I had to ask him to clarify- if he wanted me to hold it where I *would* if my contacts were in & I was reading or where I *now* needed to hold it in order to even tell that there was any writing on the card to be read- since vast difference. He seemed befuddled- but really, I couldn't see his face anymore so couldn't read his expression, and then said where I could read it now. THAT was when he started to grasp how bad my eyes were.

I participated in this Bausch & Lomb eye-expo thing we had at the Borders Book store where I used to be a manager- & talked to an opthamologist there about laser surgery- which the concept of actually frightens me to my deepest bones- and in looking at my prescription- he actually said I was not a good candidate at this time because my eyes are so bad- should wait 5 or so years until more is known about after effects on higher prescriptions.

And Smallville- so overdue for shirtless Clark.
