There is a new video up at Headtilt...what to say, what to say...see my new icon that mrmonkeybottoms made me? I am the Icon Queen and I will frivolously post with the best now! But that isn't about the vid, is it?

I have issues. Big honking Issues with a capital "I". I also have baggage - so much so that I can't even call 'em carry-ons anymore. I'm not that comfortable around True Love and Emotion. I tend to like Hate-Filled Lust and Scorn. Call me crazy but that's my kink. Or so I thought. Then I read rachelanton73's "The Great and Terrible," or Spillowgel to us fans, and the sweeter the S/A stuff got the more I got sucked in... Apparently I do have a soft spot. I'm like the Grinch on Christmas morning but I am not at all happy about joining the Whozits or Whatzits or whatever those happy freaks were called. I'll enjoy the festivities from my corner over here. If Scrooge were real he would be crawling around inside at his nephew's home Christmas Day, dying to leave. He would still be filled with hearty cheer and goodwill - but expressing it? *shudder* Maybe he did get freaked out, I can't really remember...I remember the very special Christmas Carol episode of "WKRP In Cincinnatti" but I can't remember this. Or my point.

Oh yeah - Brian and Justin. Well that just melted my cold little heart right away now didn't it? I was powerless. So much so that when I started my "Brian Kinney Is Cold Mutha-Fucking Badass" vid to "Battleflag" it kept going shippy. Well - ya'll know, some of you have seen what I cut. What you don't know is that even after I cut the Shipper Saga portion, I still couldn't vid "Battleflag." Well, I was vidding something but it wasn't "Battleflag." I was out of control. Every line related to B/J.
An example:

Dawn: I really don't think that clip works there.

Me: But it is so *cute*

Dawn: It's adorable, but it doesn't really fit the line "Is it time for your mutha-fuckin' ass to give" - At least not to me.

Me: But...Ice cream kisses...it's time for Brian's mutha-fucking ass to give Justin ice cream kisses.

Dawn: Maybe you should work on something else for now...

Me: Must. Vid. Ice. Cream. Kisses.

This was when we were moving and I was highly stressed, Dawn was highly stressed. The dog was stressed - have I mentioned that we were stressed? And I was listening to the mix-CD that heres_luck made me ("Twenty Songs About Lust, Longing and Pain" - and god I *heart* her) pretty much constantly. And the first track was just so...well all the tracks were just, y'know - but I kept going back to the first one, this Afghan Whigs song that I had never heard before and it was really wanting to be vidded - the music really wanted to be made a vid. And it was really wanting to be a Brian/Justin Shipper Vid and dear God - I made a shipper vid. Not just a shipper vid but a full on kissing, loving, happy to be together (with some angst - thank God for that)and I started it as stress relief and now that it is finished I have no idea how to take it. It doesn't feel like something I would do - but it obviously is, as I did it. This is a side of me that exists, but that I am not comfortable with as she is practically a stranger. It's weird sharing this with everyone as well, since again - I'm not entirely comfortable here. It's like wearing a bathing suit that doesn't quite fit. If it fit, I would still be nervous and antsy but at least I would be covered.

Oh my sweet baby jesus. I don't know how, but you've managed to get just about every single one of my favorite moments in this video, and match it all to the music *perfectly*.

I can see what you mean about it not being a typical vid for you as far as the darkness to sweetness quotient, but in every other way it's definitely recognizable as your work. It's got that same emotional punch, same flawless editing, and I'm watching it again and again and again- just as compulsively as the others. Even more so, actually.

Dude, it made me cry. The sweetness made me cry. And the song...Justin IS a little rabbit. Fuck, I'm starting to embarass myself. I guess I like to think I'm a big hate-filled lust and scorn person myself, but no. Sadly, no.

You showing this unknown side of yourself through vidding is a beautiful thing. I've watched that vid everytime I come on the computer since Dawn posted it.

Brian and Justin just recently ensared me with their pretty, pretty selves. I am a big ole sappy girl at times but I can also be an unfeeling bitch--your vid hits just the right spot for me. The clips, the tone, the song are all fantastic. Now I'm just rambling to no purpose so I should stop.

The reunion scenes after the bridge? Where there is a flash of light and then the motion speeds up for a second? Sadly - no. That was on the show - I just tried to take advantage of it. I'm trying to figure out how they do it so that I can mock it in a future Angel vid - fairly certain it is an effect added post production - but I'm also fairly certain parts of it require special camera angles and potential ramping shots - so Angel may be a no-go. But if it works it will be fabulous.

The vid was seasonally chronological (but not perfectly so)and thanks for the compliment on the music choice - in this case it is all heres_luck's doing.

Gorgeous vid! The song, the clips, everything just meshed so exquisitely.

One quick question though, or actually two - What device did you use to capture the video clips? And secondly, do you have the faintest idea where one might go about purchasing QAF VCDs of the first and second seasons? I'd pay almost anything for them; yep, I'm that desperate! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What device did you use to capture the video clips?</>

I ripped the DVDs on my hard drive:
1. I installed a cheap-ass DVD player in my PC (actually the guy at CompUSA did - they install for free when you buy at their store)
2. I ripped a .vob file from the DVD to my harddrive useing DVDdecryptor (you can also use SmartRipper).
3. From the .vob file I used Flask Mpeg to clip the scenes I would need in avi format.

Season 1 and 2 DVDs are available for purchase - as far as VCDs - no idea. The binary newsgroup sometimes has earlier episodes - or DVD rips.

Actually, that quote was in that new Bravo show I saw tonight, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." Totally cracked up! In case you missed it, it's on at 6pm Wednesday, 10pm Thursday, and many times after. I'm hoping the Fab 5 will start cracking jokes about each other once we get to know them.

Argghhh - I was just talking to J about it the other day - he has 150 channels and no Bravo - I should tape it for him - I *think* I have Bravo... to tell you the truth, I haven't even been through all of the channels on the cable box yet. Look at me, eshewing TV! But ever since "Search for America's Next Top Model" went off, TV has seemed rather dull. Le sigh.

Your QaF vids are hot. Last night I IM'd one of my friends and asked her if she liked boys kissing, and she said yes, so I showed her this vid. After she watched it, she said, "Wow. Wonderfully done. Justin is just the most adorable little thing. I just recently saw ep 1.22, and at the prom, before the Bad Thing happens, the sheer joy on his face...you captured that side of him very well, and managed to chronicle Brian's reaction to Justin's war of attrition method perfectly.

I always admire your vids and I don't think I've had a chance to say before, so just wanted to drop you note and let you know that you do a fantastic job, every time.
