Okay - so get this: I am totally not fired. At least for now. I am just taking comfort in podcasts - I so totally love podcasts right now. Feel free to pimp your favorites to me as I am in a very receptive mood.
So, I finally check my email today and I get an alert from
fahrbotdrusilla that she came across a Buffy/Spike vid to the song "Closer" and halfway through she noticed that the vidder was using stolen clips from one of her vids and one of mine. I think the big giveaway that she is using clips from my vid? The huge, honking "HT" bug in the lower right corner. Chickadee not only stole clips from a vid of mine, she stole clips and edits from my vid "Closer" for her vid "Closer" which on a strictly artistic scale sucks ass. Seriously - waaay too long and all dramatic tension she has built up is spoiled when Buffy cuts her hair in fast motion.
Melodramatic hair-cutting is hard enough to pull off without inducing giggles. Making it all fast-forwardy? Just wrong. Sadly, these are life lessons it doesn't appear the youth of today is getting. I fear for the future. Well, that and don't steal from a fellow fan.
fahrbotdrusilla emailed her about the clip theft and apparently she didn't take edits from us as we took edits from Joss...or something, I think she is pulling out that argument. Also, I think she thinks that I have a penis. Maybe she meant someone else was "he" - like Jesus.
I'd be mad if the clip theft was not so fucking obvious. I mean really - we bugged the vid with the "HT" (for headtilt - I used to have a website at headtilt.com) because of clip theft and now it is just -- wow. I am dying. I think this is cracking me up.

Hunh. Interesting. I dunno, my son (who is only 9) assures me that "heavy metal" music is popular at his school. "I like really old music", he says. *headdesk*

Date: 2006-01-21 09:13 pm (UTC)Big city public school; at 14, I knew people who were having sex. I couldn't look at the vid (the link is now dead), but someone (Lum?) commented that, on "You let me penetrate you," she had Spike doing that to Buffy, which seems to indicate she understands about sex.
And really, that's one aspect of LJ that's really starting to freak me out: coming into contact with so many *kids* who are into the same things I am. In my mind, I'm still in the same adults only playground, that happened to move from lists to LJ, but every once in a while something like this happens and really knocks my perception sideways.
As for the song, turns out it's really about heroin addiction. What a bummer.
Yep, that's what happens when heroin addicts write music. I love Nirvana, but a lot of KC's stuff is about that, too.
