Apartment Found - Breathing Easier

So I need look no further - I put the deposit and signed the app for a cute little one bedroom and now I am just waiting for my move-in date so I can change my appt with Two Men and a Truck. Apparently if they don't work out - I can also use Two Dudes and a Dolley. As a last resort - there is One Man and a Van.
I'm not making this up.
So the apartment is great and is literally across the street from
drdawn's house.
It also has a claw-footed tub. Really - it was the tub that did it.
So once I have the move-in date, I'll schedule the movers and OH! Mom is redoing her living room and getting rid of her couch and loveseat - so now I have a couch. I am no longer couch-less. I'm also trading Sid-the-Dog-Faced-Boy for
caphricacorn during the move. Sid stayed with Mom while I was at Slayage and literally did not want to come home with me (kinda hurt my feelings) so I don't think he will mind. Cappy has a natural ability when it comes to arranging furniture and placing items - so it is a good trade. The only thing that worries me is she keeps wanting to drive my car and just...Cappy should not be driving. In my head she is just four years old. Forever and ever.
OH - I have freaking french doors and a fireplace and built in bookshelves and patio/balcony deal and off-street parking and really - the *only* thing I am not pleased about is part of the kitchen (new appliances and a gas range - so that is good) - tiny little sink and no dishwasher.
I have to have a dishwasher - I looked at portable ones this weekend and they are like $400. This seems excessive. I need to do more research.
There are washer/dryer connections in the apartment. Now, I don't have a washer and dryer *but* - if I wanted to put a built-in dishwasher there instead of a washing machine (they are soooo much cheaper than the portable ones) wouldn't it be possible?? Especially since there is all the connection-y thingies the washing machine would need? A dishwasher cannot be that different - right??

Re: Fireplace!

You eat off a plate - you put it in the dishwasher, then in about a week you have a full load and you turn it on and voila! Clean dishes and you really did not have to think about it or expend any energy. This is pretty much how I am able to keep my sink clean. This is pretty much the only way - I've lived with and I've lived without and it is a quality of life issue. I spend more time dreading washing dishes, than it actually takes to do them.
Maybe I should just start eating off of paper napkins?
