Anticipating Angel

sisabetToday is High Holy Day and I am dying. Dying I say! Did you see the previews? How is it possibly that anticipation has not killed us? I can't even eat my lunch I am so excited and where oh where is the ever-lovin' wildfeed? Ack! I need it. I need it now.

thebratqueen's essay on slash, cause as everything she writes, it is interesting, insightful, humorous and just plain makes sense. I was up last night at 3am, not able to sleep and I read it when she posted, buty I didn't comment then cause, well, not exactly able to string thoughts together at 3am, and I just checked now and she is at page 2 of comments and I have nothing else to add but my undying adoration, which is nothing new, so I think at the very least I should direct every person on my Flist over there.
If you like slash, are curious about slash, don't understand slash, are reading this now and going "What is this slash you speak of?" and even if you could care less about any of this - just do it cause I asked, okay? For me. Do it for me. This is important to me and did I mention that I am going nuts waiting for Angel? Have I mentioned that? You so do not want to push me right now. I'm liable to lock you in a cellar with 2 vamps and a buncha evil lawyers cause this is making me beige.
A Snippet:
"What is slash?" people ask, genuinely curious. "When you take two same-sex characters on a show or a book or a movie and put them together in a romantic relationship - what is that? Where does that even come from?"
Easy, I tell them (and now you): take any scene of those two characters together. Change the gender of one of them. Repeat the scene exactly as it was done before. Same dialogue, same blocking, same inflection to all the lines, same everything. Now ask yourself if you have any doubt that those two characters are meant to be fucking. There you go. That's where slash comes from. Thanks for reading! Drive home safe!
