Nov. 29th, 2002 06:49 pmI am finally home. Most people would say that 6 hours spent riding in the truck is not that much time. I would reply that most people do not have to listen to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] sing Sunny Came Home . *shudder*
The family seems well - there were several absences this year, but nothing that I am overly concerned about (Dawn is making the rounds on the phone tonight checking in with various cousins). Dawn and Cappy renewed their sisterly bond by hiding my glasses and making me crawl on the floor looking/feeling for them. They thought my blindness was a hoot. They especially loved the part where our mother (who has had 3 total knee surgeries) decided to join me in my search on the floor . My sisters and their damn almost normal vision...
A major plus/minus to so much ride time: video ideas. I have way too many - good thing Myrtle sent me a spreadsheet. Bad thing that I don't want to screw it up so I just look at it and then put it away. I did get to work on convincing Dawn about a coupla ideas I have had that she was unsure about and now I think she sees the beauty in Better Man - finally.
Future Vid List:
Desert Rose: I took this quiz and it said that I thought that Spike and Buffy have a "mystical connection." Hurtling toward Kentucky in the dark with this song playing I can almost believe it. Almost...
Once In A Lifetime: Angel. It has to be Angel. And you may tell yourself/MY GOD!...WHAT HAVE I DONE?/Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Crumblin' Down: I can't believe it hasn't been vidded and since it has not I want to go ahead and say - heehee!! I don't care if it is cliched. This is my Spike vid. I can make it deep - seriously. I plan on carefully thinking it through. Everybody's got their problems--ain't no new news here/I'm the same old trouble you've been havin' for years/Don't confuse the problem with the issue girl/It's perfectly clear/Just a human desire to have you come near/Wanna put my arms around you/Feel your breath in my ear/You can bend me you can break me/But you'd better stand clear Because Spike is dangerous people! He is no fluffy puppy - he can be hazardous to your well-being - and I like it.
Better Man: Buffy/Riley/Angel -- I have this one finished in my head and slowly making its way to a storyboard. I have to get better season 4 source, but it is a definite go now. Hee. Dawn finally conceded. Yay!
How Soon Is Now: This is like my favorite song and the only frickin reason I have ever watched Charmed. Again - I am sure it is cliched - how many other vids are out there to this song? I do need to know... but think Wesley... think character study...When you say it's gonna happen "now"/Well, when exactly do you mean ?/See I've already waited too long/ And all my hope is gone . Dawn has even agreed to let me portray Wes' hopelessness over Angel as the reason he ends up with Lilah. I feel like it is Christmas.
Change Your Mind: (Spike/Cordy/Willow) - made us laugh. That is all.
Get Your Freak On: probably won't ever get around to making it - but definitely Chiana. Hee.
A Boy Named Sue: Angel/Connor - has to be done.
Cactus: Depraved!Spike (besides Bleeding!Spike, this is my favorite Spike eva) Sitting here wishing on a cement floor/Just wishing that I had just something you wore/Bloody your hands on a cactus tree/Wipe it on your dress and send it to me . Plus - it's Bowie and I love vidding Bowie.
Bodies: This could be a season 7 Spike vid - However; just because I can do it, does not mean I should...
Songs that are not about Spike: Tennessee Flat-Top Box by Roseanne Cash. Actually that is it. I have Spike-Fever again. Anytime there is a Spike-centric episode I am susceptible to this disease. Hopefully it will pass. I keep reminding myself that the only thing cheesier than Buffy saying, "I believe in you, Spike" would be "I believe in you, William." Otherwise I am a hopeless pile of sap. Of course Dawn immediately started saying (after that speech) "I believe the children are our future.." She is like 3 years ahead of me in stone-cold bitch training, however; so there is hope for me yet.
Damn -Dawn is on call tomorrow night and Paul Thorn is at The Lounge. I must see this show. Anyone in the Memphis area and want to babysit? He is 13 and pretty much self-maintaining - I just need an adult nearby.

Re: Every Song IS About Spike.
Date: 2002-11-30 02:13 pm (UTC)On this subject I'm torn. If you're going for playfully ironic, then perhaps a Season 3-4 piece with Riley, Xander and Oz could work. See, normally they're good guys but in fact, they're being stifled by responsibility and the overwhelming presence of estrogen on 'Buffy'. The vid could be about them acting out, as all bad boys must.
If you're thinking of something darker and more portentous, then it's Spike, Angel and a villain of your choice -- Ethan Rayne? Adam? The Master? I think there's even room for Zombie Manimal Forrest to round out the threesome. Giles (as David Seville) could represent the rejected but omniscient voice of authority.
Normally I would say that vidding the song to The Troika would be too obvious, but Andrew's "That'll do, pig!" demonstrated a heretofore unknown depth to his inner pain.
