Or something like that... I never watched the series that I can remember (I think it came on around 3am or something where I lived) but I did see a movie or two...Anyhoo, Recently I had the chance to see some of Luminosity's Highlander vids and now I am fairly obsessed.
Okay, Duncan is this immortal dude. He's kinda built like Angel and appears to brood a bit. I think he is somewhat older than Angel and has done some angst-inducing bad things in the past - so there you go. Think Duncan=Angel but with a daylight bonus. Now, Duncan has been around the block a coupla times. Actually he's been around this block and the one across the street and... to tell you the truth, the man has logged some serious miles. But he has this boyfriend now - Methos. I love Methos. I can't remember ever hearing him speak, but that doesn't matter. I have spent some quality vid time staring into this man's eyes and he is something special. Apparently Duncan thinks so, too.
Duncan and Methos bond over sparring (verbal and, ahem, physical), lingering glances (they so check each other out all the freakin time) and borrowing each others' clothes. But Methos is more than meets the eye: yeah he is an immortal with an impressive sweater collection and he gets hot if you hold a sword to his neck (I'm a sucker for both character traits by BTW) but Methos has a secret, and it is a doozy. Granted Lum has since filled me in on what that secret is and let me tell you - Whoa. I should definitely watch this show. So should you. This show should be in reruns somewhere for the benefit of society in general. Okay - another reason I want to watch this show? Duncan goes evil. And what does Methos do? Well, he does what anyone would do if their immortal boyfriend with hero-issues went evil: he drags his ass to church (See Buffy - you are not the only one with this problem, it's just that you continuously have this problem). There is also some sort of baptism of sorts with glowy water. In addition to all of this -there is this chick named Amanda that keeps stealing this crystal thing and she has history with both fellows and seems fairly interesting.

That's one of the few Methos episodes I haven't seen.
You're just now discovering this show? I wish it was on repeats on teh scifi channel still, but its not. I loved it. No, actually, I loved Methos, aka the ROG (Really Old Guy).
I never was much for the slash (though I can see where everyone gets it from) which isn't canon btw...I don't knwo how much you've seen. But I've always loved the complexities of the Methos/Duncan relationship, as friends, as brothers... Methos feels this need to humor Duncan and mess with his head, and yet he deeply admires Duncan because he has a spirit and passion for living that Methos feels he's lost. And Duncan respects Methos for how long he's lived and his intelligence and wisdom. And he also acknowledges that hey, Methos is a fun guy to hang with, and if you're in a fight the chances are high that he'll be the smartest one in the room.
Have you seen the episodes Comes a Horseman, and its 2nd part, Revelations 6:8? I love it so much. Methos so kicks ass, then manipulates Duncan into kicking ass for him, and then kicks more ass. If you've sen those, then you'll know why I love Methos so much... not only is he another sexy Immortal with a British accent (ahh..Spike... though emthos isn't *actually* British at all), but he's got a sick ass back-story that's pretty much beats everyone else on tv. And I love him becuase he does what Spike used to do on BtVS... annoy people and make everyone else look like idiots for daring to open their mouths.
some fav quotes, from one season 6 episode:
Methos: "Don't go, MacLeod."
MacLeod: "I don't have a choice."
Methos: "That is existentially inaccurate."
...
Methos: "Don't go, MacLeod. It's a trap, MacLeod. MacLeod, your pants are on fire. ... Doesn't matter what I say, does it? Well, I've only been alive for five thousand years. What would I know about it?"
I wish there'd be more Highlander/Buffy crossovers... I liked Lisa Drexel's, but... she hasn't updated "Double Destiny" in a long while. I'd love to read one where Buffy is brough back as an immortal after season 6, either from Willow or the normal HL way.
Ah... I could gab about Methos forever. Go here (http://www.geocities.com/c645900/methos/index.html) for info about him (its not my site btw).
Peter Wingfield's a sexy bitch.
Re:
Date: 2002-11-24 02:24 pm (UTC)Slash may or may not be canon...Like in the Jossverse, while it may remain unspoken, there is the subtext, and a rich one at that - a fill in the blank and figure it out - plus, if you leave a door open - I will walk through it. I think that is what I like about slash (well that, and the hot guys 'cause I'm shallow) and by extension the Mulder/Scully dynamic for the first 5 seasons of The X-Files... let it be unspoken - I have an imagination- I don't need to be smacked upside the head. Sigh.
I have not seen any Highlander episodes (yet) but I knew Methos was a smart guy. I have a nose for that kind of thing :)

Date: 2002-11-24 02:28 pm (UTC)Joe: "And I suppose you would know exactly what to do."
Methos: "Oh, yeah. Standard response to unforseen dilemmas perfected over many centuries."
Joe: "What?"
Methos: "Nothing."
:squee: Luurrve Methos. Luurve HL. i'll totally buy the DVDs when they eventually come out.
bwahaha, we have you now
Date: 2002-11-24 03:23 pm (UTC)In the meantime, if you'd like a look at some of the guys' usually hidden assets, go here http://kamil.slashcity.com/colby/ and check out the pics. Only two of them are actually of Duncan -- the two from the "End of Innocence" Quickening. The rest are pics of Adrian or Peter -- and the only Peter pics are listed as Bliss1, etc. The Colby pics are from when Adrian played a ballet instructor on the show, back in the day. and the Tracker pics are from his, thankfully, short-lived series that ran after Highlander.
Nevertheless, the pictures all share a theme. I'll leave it to y'all to discover that theme. *weg*

I always go for the guys with the big swords.
