Thoughts on Angel

I haven't updated in a while. Blame the car. I do.

My thoughts on Last week's Angel episode "Spin the Bottle" -

Fred - I still actively dislike you and pray to the PTB that you are a major character death, but I would have been your friend in high school. If you keep throwing out good lines on a weekly basis I may have to re-evaluate my current feelings about you. Slayer - the band? - heh.

Gunn - you are the muscle baby. Now take off your clothes and look pretty. Shhh...no talking...

Wes - I really am beginning to like you on so many levels.

Cordelia - The government did give you a bad haircut. Go! Seek vengeance! Please. Do something...

Connor - so now you are 18. Hmph. I still think you look 14. Reminds me about the time SMG was on All My Children and was Erica Kane's long lost daughter she gave up for adoption when she (Erica) was 14. Sarah was originally supposed to play Kendra as her own age (I think 17 or 18) and the audience totally rebelled - there was no way Erica Kane was in her early 30's (esp. since she had already been on the show for 25 years by that time). The producers aged Kendra into her 20's, but she still looked like a baby... It was weird. I know the actor that plays Connor is older than 18, but still...

Angel - English pigs. Hee. Shiny demons. Hee again.

Lorne - can you narrate every show? Please.

Overall I enjoyed the show. Is it wrong that I am looking forward to next week's Angel more than Buffy? I feel kind of disloyal.

Hold up. You're a Fury fan? Ye gods! But he wrote that Vegas episode...and Gone....and...gah. I just want to know why!?! Other than the mustard song, which I acknowledge is genius and makes me love him in spite of everything.

I love David Fury. I liked Gone. Crush is one of my favorite episodes. The Vegas episode happened at the Tropicana and that made me happy. Plus - Lorne sang Lady Marmalade, what could be wrong with that? How can you watch Listening to Fear and not get excited by the absolute cheese of "David Fury's Snake?" He writes wonderful Harmony and she is still my favorite of all Spike's women (I currently have Dru issues I need to work through). If Steven killed Tara, then Fury souled Spike - I was a little peeved about that, but I got over it. I have said it before and I will say it again: David Fury is Spike's best friend. David Fury is Spike.

Sisabet, I don't think we're in different camps on the Fury question. I love Crush with a passion. Real Me was great too. Even Gone had great Spike scenes. In fact, judging by the way he shot him in Gone and Grave, I think Fury might want to have sex with Spike. Anyway, I just want you to know that if Tuesday's Buffy is great, I'm back on board the Fury love train.

Lum's Newest Fantasy Angel Scenario: Wes and Gunn face off in Gunn and Fred's room, ostensibly to fight over Fred. Gunn is half dressed when Wes arrives, and Fred is sitting on top of the TV, writing on the walls. Wes barges into the room. Gunn turns, T-shirt half over his head, and notices that Wes is all in leather. From across the room, their eyes meet. They grab each other and begin tearing each other's clothes off. Fred looks around in consternation and, in a fit of pique, throws herself into another dimension.

Is that so wrong?

Angel is in Sunnydale, making with the big souled reunion with Spike. They'll spend the time pouring holy water over each others' naked bodies. Who says self flagellation has to be ugly?

I love your icon. I am so conflicted about the redemption, but David Fury is by far one of my favorite writers. I forgave him for the crap Initiative storyline a long time ago after "Crush"

Seriously, he's one of my very favorite writers as well. I can't think of an episode of his that I have truly disliked, and I've actively loved most of them. For "Crush" alone he should be elevated into the great writers pantheon. :)

Finally I outrage you enough to respond and post here. You are so right. Kendell/Kendra - it happens. Should I go and edit the original post? Seems almost like cheating now that the error has been addressed in the comments section. Maybe living with the error is my penance for not carefully distinguishing between the Ken___ girl names? Do you think I am turning into Mom? This is a very Mom-thing to do...
