Smallville and Angel
Oct. 15th, 2003 09:38 pmOkay - no idea what tonight's episode of Smallville was called. Angel was "Unleashed" - and I'm a-cutting
Smallville: I was highly entertained by tonight's episode. And someone killed the kid that plays Hunter on QaF! Cool! Although, after the "You fucked a murderer!" scene, the little fellow grew on me. But I spent several episodes wishing him dead, so it was kinda fulfilling tonight.
So Clark took off his shirt, saved Lex's life, took off his shirt again and we got crazy-buff-killer-dude doing shirtless situps with a rifle. What was there not to like? And Chloe's hair is improving - I was having severe Chloe-hair dissonance after the premiere. All good.
Now Lex can't get sick? Has he been watching "Unbreakable"? Cause that was almost word-for-word. Also, didn't he have a really bad case of malaria last week? Did I miss something. See - I didn't realize that Dawn only watched part of the Premiere and skipped last week entirely. I watched last week but only remember a few things cause I was all high on OTC cold medicine. But Dawn started making cracks tonight about Lex wandering away from his resort and hallucinating on the beach about his psycho buddy Louis. And I realized she had no idea about the plane crash, she just thought Lex was all wacky, and freaks out easily when lost. And that has nothing to do with anything about tonight's episode, except I thought it was pretty funny. Oh, and maybe I missed the malaria part - so he wasn't sick? Huh?
Angel: My boy is killing humans, making deals with evil, and drawing blondes. This cannot end well.
I thought Spike was playing Fred when he became solid again. Then I saw the previews and realized he wasn't. I will quit trying to predict what happens with him from now on. I don't read Spike well. I will hazard a guess that he is naked next week, although I have no idea where I am getting that from! Geez - why didn't they just take out a banner or something. Not that I am complaining. I'm just saying - Angel has that nice big shower...Wes is already there...
Speaking of Wes - how cute was that little look he have Angel when Angel said the werewolf girl gave him a look. So fucking cute.
And I don't hate werewolf girl. I hope she goes evil or does something to Angel if she stays - but I don't mind her presence onscreen at all.

Re: Lex: "Maybe I am a freak, and need to get my freak on."
Date: 2003-10-16 05:02 am (UTC)So is Clark a Junior? When does Chloe kick, ya think? I'm betting senior year. In the grand tradition of all of our other TV shows is there a Smallville University? University of Kansas at Smallville?
Re: Lex: "Maybe I am a freak, and need to get my freak on."
Date: 2003-10-16 02:49 pm (UTC)I don't know how closely the show will follow the comic mythology of Superman. In the comics, as I've been told, Pete makes it to adulthood. To say more (his political allegiances, his family) may spoil too much.
Remember the episode where Lana is in that explosion that gives her the ability to see what the villain sees? Chloe is abducted by the villain, but what's important is that she was on her way to spending time with her cousin in college in Metropolis. To say more, again, may spoil too much.

Date: 2003-10-16 03:55 pm (UTC)Okay, but for those (Truthseekersara and others) who don't want to know
SPOILERS of SMALLVILLE, read no further!
According to the comics and TPTB of the show:
1. Chloe Sullivan's (older) cousin is Lois Lane.
2. Lex Luthor gets in the political arena, with running mate Pete Ross and Pete's wife, Lana Lang. I believe Pete is VP.
3. Michael McKean (Annette O'Toole's husband, among other things) joins the cast in a few weeks as recurring character Perry White. Jimmy Olsen may also be introduced this season.
4. Some creative interpretation of future episodes leads me to believe Jor-El has visited Earth, specifically Smallville, in the distant past.
Personally, I'm not sure where the show is going mythologically. I assumed that at the end of last season Clark would develop his fortress of solitude like in the movie (where Superman claims that the green kryptonite crystal called to him). This Kal stuff is edgier, but iffy.
At some point you'll have to teach me how to hide spoiler text on LJ so that the reader must highlight the blank space to read it.
