Sep. 29th, 2003 10:24 amI watched "Solaris" last night. I was not really in the mood for it, but Dawn saw in the info on the Direct TV that it was a George Clooney film set in a space station and she was all "Doug Ross in Space!" and I didn't have the heart to tell her what it really was about. It didn't matter since ten minutes in she was out like a light. I watched the entire movie, but my impression is not completely formed - it would take a few more viewings to know what I really thought about the themes of life, death and memory. And since I had horrible "Solaris"-themed nightmares last night (it was bad - I would dream - wake up freaked out - go back to sleep and dream more. Finally I got a hold of my dream and went somewhere I could sleep, the trick was not being there - I was dreaming but not a character, merely an observer - but ugh) I will not be watching it again. At least not now. Maybe later.
Saw PotC finally and enjoyed it. Johnny Depp was Keith Richards - and I'm looking forward to being able to read "No Pirate on Earth" - cause the only thing that movie was lacking was Spander. I'll watch it again. Dawn is considering incorporating a bit of Jack Sparrow into her Brian Kinney persona, but I for one don't think she can pull off the mix. It would just be too complicated and knowing her she will interpret Jack not as Keith Richards, but as Stevie Nicks and we just got rid of all of her gauze skirts so it would just be a step backwards. I for one was thrilled cause Elizabeth used my full name as a pseudonym so I was in the movie. Really, I was. Yay me!
"Cold Creek Manor" can rot as far as I am concerned and take Juliette Lewis with it. I'm still all bitter. How dare that house sit there all creepy-like and not be haunted. It is a crime. A crime I say, and not the natural order of things.

seperis updated "How It's Gonna Be" for all you QaF US fic readers. If you aren't reading this fic (and unless you haven't seen season 3, you should)go now and enjoy. Set post 3x14, Justin POV and damned good. I love her Justin, he is pitch-perfect, 19 and adorable and the line in the update about somewhere a tumbleweed rolls down Liberty Avenue made me love him more. I wasn't gonna bug her about updates, but I read in her LJ that she considers pestering okay, so now I think we should all stand around and look cute and vote for one person a day (cause we don't wanna seem greedy or impolite)to approach her (while smiling) and ask if we can please have some more. Like in "Oliver!" -- Oh!! If we can do it with little English accents that would probably be even more endearing and prompt her to bring Brian home. Cause, seriously, I'm really worried about Justin. I know he can handle himself for the most part, but I am still nervous. This James guy freaks me out.

Date: 2003-09-29 08:46 am (UTC)Clearly Dawn is a thrill-seeker, looking for danger. When will she finally learn that enough's enough?
knowing her she will interpret Jack not as Keith Richards, but as Stevie Nicks
Now I'm going to be wishing Depp had incorporated Stevie Nicks and Keith Richards in his Captain Jack persona. Damn.

Date: 2003-09-30 12:44 am (UTC)"Solaris," huh? I saw it in the theater, and it wasn't an entire waste of time. I would like to comment on Jeremy Davies' performance, which was so calculatedly annoying that it eliminated all goodwill I had toward the actor, who was utterly brilliant in "Saving Private Ryan."
Has that ever happened to you? Ever seen a performance that was so bad that it completely trashed your opinion of an actor? In the alternative, have you ever seen a performance that suddenly redeemed an actor that you didn't think was capable of being good? Giovanni Ribisi in "Boiler Room" comes to mind, but maybe that's because it's the one time since "My Two Dads" that he wasn't trying to act stoned.
