Brian...ohhhhoh...He's savior of the universe
Brian, Ohhh fucking Kinney, he'll save every one of us!

So I was chatting with [livejournal.com profile] silviakundera about a vid project she has in mind and I made the comment that Dawn has always said that Brian helps the helpless and that there is an example of this in every single episode. So she made me promise I would follow up on this statement and post proof. And I do so here. I went to dinner with Dawn, where "dinner" was actually apple martinis and beer and a bit of food that I promptly ignored and I compiled a list. A list of "Brian Kinney: Practically Jesus" moments if you will.

So here for your pleasure is the list in order of episodes. Spoilers if you read the complete list but I go in order - so read up to the episode you are at and then stop. This list was compiled from memory at the bar, so if I am off a bit on canon, please correct.

I made it to 2x04 before I collapsed. More in the next, more hopefully sober, post.

Cutting for length of post

Season One

1-1: New Boy - I know it is a stretch, but give me a break. It is the first episode and maybe the writers haven't clued in that Brian is a saint, and also, I think they were pretty faithful to the UK version here. Did you see Justin on Liberty Ave? He was going home with someone. Brian just made sure it was him. And from the moment that he tells Justin the story about his gym teacher, he becomes more than a trick. Brian gives and gives and gives. Dawn also says the fact that he made Lindsey feel better post-partum counts here.

1-2: The Big Q - he drives Mike to his "date" at the breeder bar. He goes to explain things to Justin.

1-3: Crystal Night - "It matters that he's been in this world less than a week and already there are people who won't accept him for the way he is. Who would even mutilate him rather than let him be the way he is. The way he was born. Well, I'm not going to let that happen." - He won't let Gus be circumcised. Regardless on your view of this issue, Brian takes a stand. He also tell Michael that Justin is sweet. That is not part of the practically Jesus deal. I just like that.

1-4: To Live and Die in Pittsburgh - Okay, ya'll...he freakin' heals Ted. The Ted gets to watch Brian have hot sex with the nurse. I see no bad there.

1-5: Adjustments - sends Sugar-Daddy Businessman home to his daughter. I'm certain she appreciated it. He also gets Mike ready for his date with Dr. Dave.

1-6: Date Bait - Brian goes to Justin's Art Show. He also gives (anonymously) to charity when he buys the drawing. Shut up. He did it for the good of the world.

1-7: Hit and Run - this episode was hard. The thing that sticks out the most: When Brian Kinney calls a party ("Let's Dance) - everyone parties, even people that hate him. I love that.

1-8: The Rules - Damn. he gives Justin a place to stay and when he hears Craig's speech he gives Justin the option of leaving home.

1-9: Pitts9x6 - Brian has been supporting the entire worthless, Kinney clan. Og course he does this in secret. Poor Brian.

1-10: Road Trip - Well - he did not start off the episode like a superhero, but he fixes everything in the end. A Summary of Brian's self-less acts here:
1. Shows Daphne the beauty of the male form and then proceeds to charm her to death
2. Gets Justin back in Pittsburgh
3. Finds Justin an appropriate place to stay at Debbie's house.

1-11: The Birthday Party - well he frees Michael. Granted, not in the best way imaginable, but this is Brian. He really saw no other way. Don't judge.

1-12: Men Behaving Badly - this ep is hard. Brian actually is the one that needs saving here (thank god for Justin) but he does selflessly let Ted have his rejects. Gives and gives and gives...

1-13: See the Light - Well Brian is very supportive and welcoming to that new guy, Kip...

1-14: Lies We Tell - He writes a check for Lindsey, no griping at all, even though he is practically broke. Brian is generous to a fault. This is canon. He is like my mom that way.

1-15: Sons and Leathers - Lets his father meet Gus, even though ole Jack is an ass.

1-16: Out of Your League -He is totally supportive to Melanie. He also gives very useful advice to Justin about the Gay/Straight Student Alliance. There is more in this episode, but I am always distracted by that scene. He also, apparently, has been driving Justin to school. Such a sweet, giving man.

1-17: Liberty and Justin for All - Not only does he help Justin, he gives up Gus to reconcile Melanie and Lindsey. Not to mention helping to call attention to the pompous ass Mike is becoming.

1-18: Getting Clean - He keeps Dr. Dave's secret. I know Justin decided to not go to Dartmouth because he could not deny he was an artist, but I think Brian's speech helped. I'd quote it but I am too drunk to find it. Fuck, I have the DVDs - hang on: "They cause their own pain, just like everyone else. And now you're going to give up everything you want, just to make them happy? That is totally fucked!" and then later..."It's too late now, there is no turning back." Okay, I melted. Shut up. My favorite part is coming up.

1-19: Jack in the Box - Alright - not a lot of selflessness in this episode, but his dad just died. Give the man a break. He does pick out his father's suit for the funeral. And in all fairness, he could have acted much worse at the wake. I cut all sorts of breaks for people in pain and grief.

1-20: Let's Hear It for the Boy - this one is a stretch. He calls Dr. Dave's attention to his hypocrisy and makes him feel all hot again. Yeah. That's it. Also - he is nice to Blake.

1-21: Split Decisions - Dawn says the whole move to NY was an attempt to get Michael and Justin to let go. For their own good, of course.

1-22: The Last Dance - where to start. Well, he keeps Chris Hobbs from killing Justin. Dawn also says that when he danced with Justin he made Daphne believe in romance.

Season Two

This whole season is how Brian gives and gives:

2-1: A Fine Romance - Two words: Regular Roy. Also, he watches over Justin and no one knows. Also, part two, he gives up Justin.

2-2: Take Two - Well - the complete freakin episode. He gives and gives and even sees a shrink. For Justin. He is practically a saint here.

2-3: Gay as Blazes - When my boy walks down the street. Damn. He gets Justin to go out in public without a panic attack. That was a lot of work, yo. Also he goes to the comiccon with Michael, rather than receive the Hero Award and he makes the comment that he has to get home because Justin gets freaky when left alone to long.

2-4: Pride - Everyone assumes the worst with the Pool Boy campaign and Brian forces thge homophobe to donate to the marriage initiative (a cause he most certainly does not endores, but it is important to Lindsey). He gives stellar advice to Ted and Justin mentions that Brian has been helping him with his OT exercises.

I'm tired and need to lie down now. More later.

He did give Lindsay his sperm. I think that can count towards this episode.

That is exactly what Dawn said tonight at the bar. I didn't count it cause it happened off-screen. But is was a very giving and loving thing that he did. Sniff.

And I haven't even gotten to 2x05 - where Brian is sanctified, made holy and saves the freakin cast.
