sisabetAt one point yesterday, I realized I had not checked LJ for over ten hours and I started to get a little nervous, like I am never going to get caught up. Then I stopped and reflected and fucking got a clue. Now, I am much happier. Just saying.
I am grateful for Kerfuffles because I meet so many new, interesting people. I still wish they were called "kerfluffles", however. Cause "kerfluffle" is just adorable.
Today, on the way to work, I was listening to the public radio station. NPR hadn't come on yet, they were playing music. And lo and behold, I heard my first ever "Highlander" vid song. Not that I am going to vid Highlander, and not that I am ever going to vid that song - but...if I were - then I would vid that song. It's just the first time I've seen a vid in my head to that fandom and it was pretty exciting, I gotta say.
Right now I am putting off everything that I should be doing in favor of working out a vid-like thing that seized me and made me lay clips like a madwoman for 24 hours straight and then laughed at me for slowing down and becoming stuck on the end. Stupid Vid-thing. You suck.

Watched it last night with Dawn (and I suck for not commenting - but hey - I was AWOL) Those two are freakin' cavity inducing they are so sweet. I was so glad you included the Pride Painting of the Posters. Cause if there is anything I know from watching Highlander vids it is that when one man loves another man - he paints his face and then giggles.

Date: 2003-09-03 02:51 pm (UTC)Speaking for myself only, I don't think it's harder to find songs for Duncan in general than songs for Methos in general... but I do think it's harder to find songs about Methos from Duncan's POV than the other way around. I think that's because it's easier, from the clips that we have available, to visually represent how Methos feels about Duncan than the other way around.
Not that I don't think Duncan feels equally strongly about Methos, it's just that the clip choices are a lot more subtle. For me, songs that feel like they speak to how Duncan feels about Methos often don't have the clips that fit that strength of feeling. (And if you try too hard to make the subtle clip choices work with less-than-subtle lyrics or music, you end up with minor catastrophes that take two years to finish and that you don't end up being especially happy with anyway.)
So, IMO, finding songs with the right tone to fit the subtlety of the clips that are available for Duncan's POV about Methos is just not easy. You have to look well beyond what you usually think of as romance/relationship songs... and maybe that's a good thing. :)

So glad you enjoyed 'The Law'! The first thing I started in the fandom, and what I THOUGHT would be my first and last fic -- and then I'd move on. *laughs at self*

The author's other stuff is Very heavy on the angst & pain- but these are hysterical little snapshots into the world of Brian & Justin in between the melodrama. Number 11 might be my favorite- where both are too lazy & too stubborn to be the one to get up to answer the phone that won't stop ringing.
