The thing with Smallville is to just discard everything that you don't like and revel in the crazy sparkly joy of the bits you do. Its imaginary universe is really playful and exciting once you've got past the curtain of strange/bad/inconsistent writing. Also never apply logic in this universe. Ever.

I can add flirty icons to the shiny vids if it helps? (I still have all my old SV ones, awww, *digs them out of the mothballs*)
