So, Sid is sick. Not deathly ill and not crying and whimpering and shivering (thankgod) but more like that guy in the "gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now" commercials sick. The vet doesn't think it is anything to worry about and other than the moments of stress where Sid has to go and maybe I am not moving as fast as I possibly should move and the vet has me cooking for him for the next couple of days so maybe the only person in this scenario that you should feel bad for is me. Yeah - me. I am the one who possibly ruined her kitchen floors in a fit of disinfecting yesterday (I really hope it was just a reaction to mop and glow residue and will eventually come off...eep!) and stand outside in the cold for long periods of time while Sid considers his bowels. I wish I had a yard.

Oh! Wait - don't feel sorry for me at all cause I have something that no one else in the world has right at this particular moment. I have Scooby Road on my iPod (dubbed Junior). HAH! Take that world!

Also - I am dead tired and should be really busy tomorrow. You know what this means? MEME! Meme me! Everyone else did this and I am nothing if not wanting to appear participatory so here it is - the big ole fandomish meme:

Tell me of a fandom you know I know of and I'll tell you:

1. The first character I first fell in love with:
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't:
4. The character I love that everyone else hates:
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer:
6. The character I would shag anytime:
7. The character I'd want to be like:
8. The character I'd slap:
9. A pairing that I love:
10. A pairing that I despise:

Any fandom that you think I am familiar with is fine to ask. Hell - even if you ask about a fandom I've never really participated in/show I've watched - I'll come up with something. Apparently I have really firmly held (and completely wrong, btw) opinions about things like The Sentinel and Rome.

Oh and [livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain - we have to do I-man. Do you still have my cell? Email me your schedule. I'm off Monday if it helps.

Angel! Angel! Do Angel!

Date: 2005-12-30 06:34 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sisabet.livejournal.com
Oh - I will do Angel. I will so do Angel.

1. The first character I first fell in love with:

This isn't fair as I was already in deep with Angel when the show started. It is all complicated and messed up with Buffy and who knows who I first fell in love with on *that* show (Angel). I had issues when he left - I admit it. I had issues and troubles and he went to the prom. I got over them cause really no one on Earth has more issues than Angel. I mean, he went to the prom. Dude.

So, the first character I actively fell in love with on the show Angel that I was not in love with before the show began was Wesley.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: I love them all. I do. Rewatching the show every morning as of late, and I am struck by the depths of my affection for Fred as everything I feel now is colored by what happened to her. Also, TNT just got to the Illyria stuff. I am fragile until 8am every day, I tells ya.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't: On Angel? I am thinking. Huh. You know what? I have fondness for Doyle but I do not love him - I barely know him. But I do respect him and what he did and if I'd had more time with him I do believe there would have been a great kinship there. We are both attracted to Angel, after all. That is pretty much the basis of my relationship with Spike.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: People hate Angel characters? NO - DO NOT TELL ME THIS OR I WILL GO ON A RANT. I love them all. Seriously. Don't fuck with mah people.

I love Cordy - very very much. I just think she damned herself but I don't think she did it maliciously and hell - I'd probably do the same thing in her shoes. It just wasn't the right answer.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Buh?

6. The character I would shag anytime: LMAO. Is this even a question? Actually - I am kind of afraid of Angel. I'd still do him - but it would be terrifying for me.

But Gunn? I would totally marry Gunn. As long as he would quit hanging out with the AI crowd cause those guys will get you killed!

7. The character I'd want to be like: Lilah if only for her palm pilot. I think I need to be a bit more like Lilah. I've always thought this.

8. The character I'd slap: Holtz. Sometimes Angel. Sometimes Holtz then Angel but not Justine cause she is too pitiful.

9. A pairing that I love: Angel/Spike. Duh.

10. A pairing that I despise: Despise is a mighty strong word. I don't read Angel/Connor cause that squicks me.

I admit to much teeth gritting over the Fred/Wes thing but in hindsight I am only sad.

1. The first character I first fell in love with:

I am so unoriginal - Rodney. I was all "There is some Quentin-Tarantino-on-Ritalin-Guy on this show and I think I adore him."

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Teyla. I had issues bonding with her over most of first season due to bangs-dissonance (I had hair issues - I am allowed for I am shallow). Now I adore her. I have a snarky internal dialogue going for her in my head watching the show. She gives me great joy.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't:

This was when I knew I had worked thru anything that might be holding me back from actually participating or vidding in this fandom: I love them all. Seriously - not a character walking around on that show that I can't find something really important about them that I like. TEAM!!!

4. The character I love that everyone else hates:

I have heard other people don't like Elizabeth. I tend to avoid fandom pockets where people don't like other people so I am actually working from strict rumor. How can you not like Elizabeth? I went and had my hair cut like hers! She is a role model! She will take care of you! She loves her people and has fantastically groomed eyebrows!

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer:

??? - Does not apply

6. The character I would shag anytime:

Okay - trick question. John. I think John right off the bat but wait... I don't know that I could deal with John and the probable disconnect I would feel from him and it just would never happen with Rodney and they need to be together anyway and so I guess that leaves me questioning my sexual orientation with Teyla. Or Elizabeth.

Cause I don't think I could actually have sex with Ronon. I'd not be able to stop giggling and I'd feel like a pervert if I asked to see Carson naked. Although Ronon is really hot. Maybe it I was drunk?

7. The character I'd want to be like:

Elizabeth or Teyla. Somedays I need more Elizabeth and some days I need more Teyla. They are kind of the only grownups around. Well, and Zelenka. Awwwwww, RADEK!!!

8. The character I'd slap:

John just because it would be fun. He'd look at me all incredulous and disbelieving like "You did not just do that" and then walk away and shoot me kind of hurt-pissed off looks all day and then I could just pretend I was Rodney and maybe it would take my mind off the fact that I was actually inhabiting their universe and scared shitless cause Rodney sometimes blows up solar systems and their vicinity is not a safe vicinity in which to be.

9. A pairing that I love:

HAH! I am again so predictable: John and Rodney. Although Ronon has a big crush on Teyla and he is sooooo cute with his little crush and she totally knows. But Teyla knows everything. Also - they are extremely attractive people and I like watching extremely attractive people hook-up.

10. A pairing that I despise:

Despise is still such an ugly word. Sigh. I am not thrilled with Teyla/John and mainly this is because I get the impression that Teyla is not thrilled with the idea either. I'm not big on any pairing that splits up John and Rodney, actually - in the interest of full disclosure although if someone wanted to write me a story where Kara Thrace ends up on Atlantis and under the command of John and Starbuck totally goes for Rodney (cause it is canon she likes scientists and she can out-John, John and Rodney's social issues would not mean *squat* to her) and it totally makes John seeeeeethe with jealousy? I could go for that. I totally totally could. Also I want Kara to make Rodney's eyes roll back in his head. I see it so perfectly in my brain...

??? - Does not apply

Heh, yeah, and I have this, hopefully not unfounded hope, that it'll *stay* that way for me too.

re:#6, dude I find that whole cast imminently shaggable, though for John and Rodney I'd just request to, y'know, put them together and watch.

They are kind of the only grownups around.

::gigglefit:: half the time I know they're saying in their heads, "Children, *behave*."

Because of that, I kinda want to see Teyla/Radek, and it's not like they didn't hold down the fort when everyone was off at the SGC during Intruder.

John just because it would be fun. XD ::glomps you::

John and Rodney.

::highfives!:: Honestly, even if they're not *in* love with each other in canon, they just LOVE each other so much (in canon!) that it makes me just w00ble.

(didja watch Grace Under Pressure yet? can I squee about that to you?)

I am not thrilled with Teyla/John and mainly this is because I get the impression that Teyla is not thrilled with the idea either.

I am still freaked out that Teyla wears a wig. Poor Teyla.

re:#6, dude I find that whole cast imminently shaggable

Yes! I agree... if you did not know them. If John or Ronon or even Rodney or hell, Carson were strangers to me then no problem - let's go. But I know too much about them - although I have considered this overnight and have come to the conclusion that I would do Radek Zelenka in a Pegasus minute. And then I would make him my boyfriend and we would be in LUFF and have a gazillion little Zelenka puppies that we would adopt from animal shelters across the Earth because Atlantis needs dogs.

Because of that, I kinda want to see Teyla/Radek, and it's not like they didn't hold down the fort when everyone was off at the SGC during Intruder.

OMG I LOVE THAT!! I actually am really partial to Radek/Elizabeth but only because I firmly believe she deserves Radek and she's had a real hard time of it lately - but I'll go there with you. Actually - when Teyla and Radek were in charge? Atlantis never ran smoother. You know it is true!

I have not seen Grace Under Pressure yet. I *just* recently got caught up on the first half of S2.

or, as lierdumoa says, "It is not the way of [her] people to consort with children."

Oh, I love this. Yes!

Keep in mind that... well I quit watching. I'll quit watching a show when I stop liking or caring about the characters (I never understood torturing yourself by watching a show with only one character you like on it - dude, that would suck!) so I don't have a hugely positive outlook on QaFUS as a series. I've seen the UK version and liked it but wasn't captivated or anything. Just fair warning:

1. The first character I first fell in love with:

Michael. This would change in a matter of episodes.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Ted. Toward the end of my viewing, he was one of the only characters I could stand. I sincerely wanted Brian to fall in love with and pursue a disbelieving Ted. It would have been hysterical - it would have been gold!

Which is weird cause up to that point I had tolerated and then (when he got with Emmit and became an addict) I loathed him. Then he was Brian's accountant and I just adored him - strange, innit?

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't:

Hmmm - Michael? I quit watching when I started disliking Justin because I didn't want to not like Justin. I blame the writers, actually - really bad decisions IMO.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates:

Ted!

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer:

Brian - the whole cancer arc pissed me off. Not his fault but I wanted a larger than life Batman. Not Lance Armstrong with poor social skills. Again, not his fault and I blame the writers for setting him up as this almost mythological figure and then deciding mid-show to turn into Homicide: Life on the Streets with the cameras and gritty up his perfect world. Normally, that might have been interesting. In the hands of competent people it could have been incredible - here it just robbed the show of what little shallow charm it had in my eyes and replaced it with something that was visually dull and without the shiny, the horrible dialogue just had no hope whatsoever.

Imagine if they took Smallville and made it ugly. Why would anyone watch that?? The pretty was the appeal for me.

6. The character I would shag anytime:

At this point? None of them - although I would hang out with Ben and I'd take Emmit out for coffee. I like them.

7. The character I'd want to be like:

I'd tried being Brian Kinney and it just didn't take - I don't have that kind of personality makeup. Sadly enough - I think I already make better life decisions than the majority of that cast.

8. The character I'd slap:
Depends on the season - Season 1? Michael
Season 2? Michael, Season 3? Ted. After that I go on a free-for-all of smacking cause I quit watching in S4.

But I have always hated Blake. Something about his mouth - it makes me cringe.

9. A pairing that I love: Brian/Ted!!! It works - trust me!

10. A pairing that I despise: Brian/Michael. I have issues with them being together in a romantic pairing because of basic differences in their intelligence. It would not work out.

Dead Like Me?

From: [identity profile] sisabet.livejournal.com
Okay - remember please that I had to quit watching midway through the second season. For once it was not because of the show, I still LOVE the show, but because it was just really hard for me to watch. I still plan to get to it someday - just later.

1. The first character I first fell in love with:

George. How could I not? Although Delores was running neck and neck with her there for awhile.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Daisy. I just love Daisy - and I never thought I would. That actress is really really good and I totally under-rated her for a long time. But she was subtle and I like that (and hee - I just described DAISY as subtle...but somethings were - she is a master at misdirection and that is *interesting*)

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't:

On that show? I love them all.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates:

How can you hate someone on DLM? Joy maybe? I ADORE her - she is so real and imperfect and hard to love and she just is so wonderfully flawed and damaged and human. Joy is fascinating and real. People are stupid if they don't get that. Real people suck sometimes but good people keep trying even though they essentially suck (cause we all suck). Joy is a perfect example of this.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer:

This is like the whole QaF thing above this response. If I quit liking the characters (usually all it takes is one) I'll quit watching the show. I quit watching DLM but because I loved the characters so MUCH. So this question is Not Applicable to me.

6. The character I would shag anytime:

RUBE!!! OMG - right now. Bring it on. RUBE!

7. The character I'd want to be like:

I'd like more of Delores' heart and Roxy's poise.

8. The character I'd slap:

Mason - just because chances are he just said something really inappropriate to me and needs it. I am a big believer in Cognitive Reinforcement.

9. A pairing that I love:

Rube/George!!! She is his peanut! He is Mandy Patinkin! They fight crime....er, actually no - they REAP SOULS. It is a match made in...well possibly purgatory. Or Limbo. Hey didya know the Pope got rid of limbo? Dawn is all worried about what happened to the unbaptized babies that were supposed to be in limbo and then my mom reminded her that she isn't Catholic.

10. A pairing that I despise:

DLM is not really a pairing show for me so I can't really think of one. The only pairing I actively ship is Rube/George so I an unaware of any others.

Buffy!! Of course I want to do Buffy - thank you for asking:

1. The first character I first fell in love with:

First ep I saw was "What's My Line Part II" which was good cause of all the glowering vampires. It piqued my interest - what with the torture and the shiny and Spike and Angel and Dru. But then Buffy slept with Angel and he turned evil and she broke my heart. I was also watching Season 1 at the same time on Mondays (WB used to air new eps of Buffy on one night and the previous season on another night so you could catch up) and Willow and Xander were being fantastically vulnerable and adorable and so it was like a block of dominoes: Buffy/Willow/Xander and I was done for.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Anya - I totally fell her and was not expecting it. I was surprised by how invested I actually was in her.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't:

Hmmm... hard to say. I can't answer that - off the top of my head I can't think of *anyone*

I even love SPIKE!!! I just don't think he is an innocent and helpless little pile of puppy goodness.

I never really liked Kennedy but she is not a popular fandom character. I don't HATE her. I just think she is Willow's Little Rebound and I refuse to invest in her for that reason. She's temporary.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates:

Xander. Spike. Angel. Willow. Riley.

If you are a character on Buffy? There is a contigent of fen out there who HATE you. And they are organized.

But my number one Buffy-Love who I have lost all rationality in defending and discussing is Buffy. If you don 't love Buffy - don't tell me about it. We cannot discuss it sanely. I'll go nuts. It will keep me up nights. I'll wonder about the state of your soul and your ability to feel empathy and compassion.

There could be enforced viewings of Scooby Road. She's SO HEAVY BECAUSE SHE HAS TO CARRY THAT WEIGHT!

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer: ?? Not possible.

6. The character I would shag anytime: Throw a dart at a cast picture and I'd be down with it.

7. The character I'd want to be like:

Buffy.

8. The character I'd slap:

Angel or Spike because they'd like it. Vamps are messed up, yo.

9. A pairing that I love: Angel/Spike (hee); Buffy/Angel; Buffy/Faith; Buffy/Spike; Buffy/Xander; Xander/Spike; Anyone/Oz

10. A pairing that I despise: huh. I am not overly fond of Andrew/Xander but I don't despise it - ignoring it works just fine.

I had this long and funny answer to you ready to post and then my LJ took one look at it and ate it. I think it is the LJ gods not accepting that I really don't want to slap Rose's mother. Cause I don't. I swear. Mostly.

AnyWho (HEE, I *slay* myself), your reponses to the Whovian question are so much more in depth and fannish responsible than me - Cause I am one of those people - I never watched Dr. Who until Lum actually walked into my house with discs of the 9th Doctor and sat me down and hit the play button. So I am really just a Who-Poser. Or posuer. Poseur?

1. The first character I first fell in love with:
The Doctor and Rose were running neck and neck but he got me in the 2nd ep. So he wins but not by much.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Actually, Rose - I thought I'd find her silly or token or just annoying (at first glance) and I so didn't. Oh - so so so wrong about that.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't:
I do not know the fandom well enough to answer this - honestly, I think I enjoy all of the recurring characters and I am in a deep and abiding love for the major characters so really - yep. I just get all "Awwwww" when I think of them. My heart melts.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates:

Does anyone hate Jack? Rose's boyfriend? Her mom? Cause I dig them all.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer:
Not applicable

6. The character I would shag anytime:
You were all noble in your reason for picking Captain Jack - you would do him to satisfy a curiosity - almost for SCIENCE! Meanwhile, I am hanging out in the shallow end going "Have you seen him naked?"

7. The character I'd want to be like: Rose. Rose. And again Rose.

8. The character I'd slap: Maybe Rose's Mom. Sometimes. I honestly like her - I DO! Just...sometimes.

9. A pairing that I love:

DOCTOR/ROSE AND OMG I LOVE THEM SO!!11!! Seriously and sometimes Rose falls behind and I cry and cry and cry and that was some goddamned moving tv.

10. A pairing that I despise: Um?? Maybe if someone was shipping The Doctor with those naughty Carebears from Yuletide?

I was actually going to restrain myself to the new series but realised that I probably couldn't answer a lot of the questions with just that becuase I pretty much love everyone on it. :) So I expanded the field just a little bit. ;)

You were all noble in your reason for picking Captain Jack - you would do him to satisfy a curiosity - almost for SCIENCE! Meanwhile, I am hanging out in the shallow end going "Have you seen him naked?"

I have no qualms with people asking me questions - especially when I post "Hey ask me questions!"

I love BSG!!!

1. The first character I first fell in love with:

Starbuck. I am predictable. She BROUGHT IN THE CAT. Right on her heels was Daddy Adama.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Six. I am so down with Six.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't:

I love them all. Again - I am so predictable.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates:

Gauis. I just get all happy when he is crazy-upping the television screen.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer:

Does not exist.

6. The character I would shag anytime:

Daddy Adama (the shame of it all... but it is the truth. I'd do him)
Starbuck (cause dude - who turns down Starbuck)
Helo (cause, HELO)
Tyrol (cause I LUFF HIM)

7. The character I'd want to be like:

Laura Roslin cause she is one classy broad.

8. The character I'd slap:

That colonel from the midseason finale - I hate her. Maybe Helen Tigh but she is a lot of fun in a drama inducing drunken sort of way.

9. A pairing that I love:

Lee/Laura; Starbuck/Helo; Billy/Dee

10. A pairing that I despise: Huh. Hasn't happened yet. I am in the honeymoon!!!
