Headtilt (my website) is still down, along with all of my vids. However, because of the incredible-incredibleness of [livejournal.com profile] just_eunice and her generous hosting-offer, I can post my Vividcon vid. YAY!

So here it is - this was my Premiere vid this year at Vividcon. The source is from Kill Bill Volume 1 and 2. Beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] renenet and [livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett for support and hand-holding.

Ring Them Bells
song by Bob Dylan

Download the wmv here (please right click and save as, especially since Eunice is doing this to be nice. So be, you know, nice). ETA 8-19-09: please note the wmv version is no longer available online.

HOWEVER!!! I recommend the avi, because hot damn it looks good. Seriously - this entire vid was made using avisynth and the fantastic guide here, and I barely scratched the surface of what I could actually use this to do. I'm figuring it out more and more (and I really need a better system. This is the straw that sent the camel out PC-shopping) but this is by far the prettiest vid I have ever made. Easily. All because [livejournal.com profile] absolut3destiny is a genius, but we knew this.

Okay - so on my system this xvid file plays perfectly with VLC but the audio is fucked up and lags on WMP (I tried 3 versions) and Eunice said Quicktime choked on it. So - if you download this file, you have to promise me you will use VLC to play it. Otherwise, I will be up all night worried that you are watching a vid that is not synched properly and seriously, this will stress me the fuck out. Do you want to stress me out? And anyway, if you are not using VLC as a player, you are totally missing out. It plays everything right out of the box. You should get it.

And if you have it, Download the avi version here. Because this may be the prettiest thing I've ever done. But ONLY on VLC. Of course you can try to play it on other players. But if the cuts at the beginning don't correspond with the chords? Do not tell me.

For now, if linking, use this LJ entry and feedback in any and all forms is really appreciated.

ETA: 8-19-09: The vid is now available again for download. The above link should work.

I've already rewatched this vid countless times since VVC, but watching the avi file on my freshly-downloaded VLC player still makes me choke up. This vid is everything I loved about the Kill Bill movies and more, because it adds to my perception. You portray the Bride's story as something flawed yet neccessary, and strangely full of grace.

I can't tell you enough times how gorgeous I think this vid is, so I'll tell you again. The choice of song with the source was just *inspired* and how you've integrated the visuals with it takes my breath away every time. Did I mention I love this vid? Because I love this vid.

You know, I think I've had that video sitting on my computer for so long, I kinda forgot that it was new and shiny and that oh yeah, you hadn't posted it yet. Hehehe...

I told you that I loved it when I saw it, and I still do. I've never seen the movie, but the passion and the emotion in that video just kills me everytime. It's so sad and heartbreaking and it makes me want to run out and rent the movies like right now.

Tee-hee!

I love this video so much and I'm definitely going to download the high quality version just so I can watch it all full screen and gorgeous.

Congrats on getting it out there and done. :)

THANKS!!! It took me long enough to get back here and reply, didn't it? But you know how easily distracted I am so I take comfort in that.

You make this look sooooooo effortless. The movement in it is completely conserved, not one wasted frame. And that's not even touching on the absolutely inspired music choice. It's like poetry. Really beautiful poetry.

This is so beautiful!!! Everything is just perfect, the song, the movement, the way it builds up and the overall mood. I really love everything about it and I can't (and don't want to) stop watching!

I just watched this vid again and I have to say, it's really amazingly gorgeous. It's amazing how you set mood and tone so completely and compellingly, and how the images seem made for the lyrics, or vice versa. So beautiful and moving.
