So I just saw [livejournal.com profile] basingstoke post about this and I don't think I have been this excited about a fic challenge in... well, ever. Really. No, really.

It is difficult for me to type right now - *that* is how excited I am. Hell - I am so excited I might even participate except that is just NUTS. But damn. I love [livejournal.com profile] slodwick. Slodwick is a genius. Slodwick is cool and smart and has the milkshake that brings all the boys to the yard and came up with this and OMG!!! Everyone must play. Everyone. Cause see, I *have* these books. Well, not on me - I tend to give them away as gifts (because I am the kind of person who cares about whether you live or die. Think about that for a moment, 'kay?) but anyway - I buy these books because it is important to have a plan and to know what you are doing and to be prepared for any given situation. Like alligator attacks. Yes, I grant you, in Kentucky, you would think that I am pretty assured that I will not fall prey to a hungry alligator. But that is where you would be over-confident my friend, unlike me. Who knows what to do. Kinda. Actually, I forgot exactly what you are supposed to do, but that is not the point. The point is... OMG!!!! Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook Multi-Fandom Fic Challenge!!!!!

I could cry over the beauty of this. I mean - do you know what to do if you are in a car that is dangling precariously over the side of a cliff? Okay, I don't either, but if my memory was any better, I would know. That is the point. I am still better prepared than the vast majority of people because I have at least considered this as a possibility of occurring within my lifetime.

I am finally a complete person. YAY!!!!

Oh my lord, I hated those things as a child. I *loved* those things as a child. My cousins had the entire Worst-Case Scenario library. I would read and mark each fork with a Post-it so I could go backwards if my choice made me die. Which it always did.

No, wait--this isn't what I thought it was. Dammit. What did you call those books? You know, the ones where at the end of each chapter you'd get a list of choices, and each one sent you to a different page where the story continued? Frakkit.

Re: alligator: run in zigzag pattern. They go fast in a straight line, but they can't corner.

Failed brakes: use the emergency brake.
Tornado, caught outside: lie face-down in a ditch, protect your head. If you have a child with you, use your body to portcect them.
