I Am BACK!!! Ms. Sisabet If You're Nasty!
Jul. 28th, 2005 10:39 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
So - Motherboard installed, computer returned to me in working order AND I got an "I was wrong and you were right" from one of the geeks (he was all dismissive of my concerns that there were not enough slots for a soundcard - it was onboard on my prev MB and not on this one - I *told* him there were not enough slots. Now he knows and I have my 56k modem in a little antistatic bag) so I am feeling a bit better.
Actually tons better as
sockkpuppett has taken it upon herself to rebuild me bigger and better (she has the technology!!!) and I now declare the AMVapp to be the Most Useful Thing Ever so mad props for that to
absolut3destiny.
And further proof I have been too long without a computer? I just offered "mad props."
So, tonight - I need to see if I can reinstall my full version of Tmpnc or whatever it is. I have a block in my brain from actually knowing the precise name/letter order of this particular application. I'm like Willis from "Differ'nt Strokes" and his inability to learn about Watergate because it happened in 1975 (well the end stuff) and that is the same year his father died. Poor Willis. Poor me.
Hey - you know what else happened in 1975? I was totally born. And fanvids got made! Not about my birth although I've always suspected that my mom watched a ton of Star Trek when she was pregnant with me. That and "Welcome Back Kotter" as even before Nick At Nite ran the reruns, I had clear memories of WBK dialogue and plot points. But I remember being sad that Willis hated the year I was born cause I always really liked him. And then he dumped me for Good Times' Penny. Except she was all rich and not abused in his 'verse.
And then I turned 11 and bought Janet Jackson's "Control" and realized that we were totally like that because I too did what my father said and let my mother mold me. Yes. Kinda.
So in a way - both Janet and I threw off the oppression of trying to be Willis's perfect girlfriend and it is Ms. Jackson if you're nasty! And I didn't get at the time that the entire song was about telling nasty people off - not about celebrating being nasty -- so I kinda lived my preteen years on a total misconception there. Good thing George Michael showed up in time for puberty cause really, there was no misunderstanding him.
Also, I don't know if it was the influx of hormones at a pivotal time in my life, but I am unable to hear "One More Try" and *not* cry. Cause TEACHER! There are things that I don't want to learn.
::cries::
I should vid that. I could vid the entire "Faith" album and it would be... well "Monkey" is Angel. Obviously.
::wanders off in daze::
