So yeah, I've never been fannish about HtLJ, but damn if their fandom doesn't make me all misty!
::sniff::
Thanks to
falzalot for alerting me to this most glorious of things.
Which brings me to how you can help me! YAY! Someday, I might get my computer back. Or I might have another computer. That day seems very far away right now, but it is always darkest before the dawn and all that and some other vaguely hopefilled sentiment and either the Geeks tell me something FIRM today about what they are doing or I gorge myself on a Pizza Buffet at lunch. One of these things will happen.
The point is - I will have to recreate my bookmarks. Since
caphricacorn has taught me the joys of organized bookmarks and OMG TABBED FAVORITES! I see this as an opportunity.
I'll eventually retrace my steps and find my favorite fics, except with the notable and happy exception of SGA, there is no cave in fic. Seriously. That is just wrong.
You know what is even wronger, er, more wrong, er - worse (well that doesn't sound right at all)? If you know of a cave in story posted anywhere online and you don't tell me about it. That is like...evil. Cause if I knew about one, I'd tell you. I'm all giving like that. I can read you a chapter outta "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" if you'd like - I do great voices, although my voices for "The Cat in the Hat" are so much better. The Fish in the Pot sounds like Bob Dylan. You wouldn't think that he should sound like Bob Dylan - but he does. There is no cave in "The Cat In the Hat" though. So you know - the choice is yours.
I mean - everyone says it is a cliche but if it really and truly *was* a cliche, then wouldn't I be sick of it by now?
Also - if I am missing anything really really cool in this Dark Time Without a Computer - please remind me in comments. Cause one day, like Daddy Adama, I will rise triumphant. Or something. And no one spoil me for BSG or SGA cause I fell asleep. Well no one that is not
tzikeh cause she tells me just enough to ensure I will download.

Date: 2005-07-19 03:33 pm (UTC)But where are the classic crack stories? I know they exist. I just need to find them.
And Bonanza fic. I just... wow. I wonder if they got the characterization of Hoss right?
Still with the caveat that I haven't read any of these myself

Date: 2005-07-19 05:29 pm (UTC)The most classic cavefic I know is This Deadly Innocence (http://www.foresmutters.org/FSPtextfiles/deadly.txt) by Leslie Fish, published in 1979. I'm sure you know it, but in case someone else doesn't, the neat thing is that it manages to be both a 'Spock goes into pon farr! In a cave!' fic and a fullblown analysis of the hurt/comfort story as a way to sublimate slash. Or, as a highly indignant McCoy puts it,
