So I called about my computer and between sitting on hold and being asked (twice) if I have a desktop or a Mac (these are my options?) dude came back online and said they were installing the OS right now. So yay. Maybe - see - I think he is lying, cause I said - GREAT! That means my PC will be ready for pickup tonight and he said, no - maybe tomorrow.

Why would it take overnight to install an OS? So I asked if they are working on it *right this minute* and he said yes. And I asked if there was any issue about the hard drive and he hemmed and hawed and said that then they have to do something and then install windows and then the updates and OMG! Do you think they are gonna install service pack 2???

I think I am gonna head down to the shop and talk to whomever is standing over my computer right now. Cause either they are working on it, or they are not. If not - fine. I'll come back tomorrow. If they are, then there is no reason I can't have it tonight. I mean - it was 10 am when I called. Tonight is 11 hours away.

Unless they fucked something up. Or my PC is fucked up more than we thought. Or a combination of both.

There were warnings posted all over my PC *not* to touch the 250 gig HD. There are warnings all over my service agreement. I actually warned the guy who answered the phone that the H drive is sacred and holy and all who go near it must go thru a cleansing ritual first. Well - not really, but I did say "They know it is the 80 gig drive they are reformatting, right?" and he was really vague and now I am overwhelmed by panic. Panic and a desire for a chili-cheese coney.

I swear - if I cannot wear the really pretty dress I bought for Club Vivid (the one that was too tight but I decided I'd just lose weight cause - PRETTY!) I am blaming my computer.

I chipped a nail this morning and I blamed my computer because if it had been around I wouldn't have gotten so bored that I painted my nails in the first place.

I can't get into "American Gods" despite the fact that normally, this shit is right up my alley, because I can't concentrate. All my PC's fault.

I have no idea where [livejournal.com profile] renenet is with her due South viewing and as such am unable to email her so that she can talk me down from the Vid Idea Ledge as I don't know exactly what I can reference Spoilerwise and while this might be a moot point as part of me has decided to compare Fraser to French Impressionists (?? I slept funny last night) but it can be a VID! and I doubt any of this is a spoiler -- I don't have the ability to funnel all this through a filter that will let me get off this ledge and think about something else. I'm stuck in a groove.

And everyone knows that the Mountie is much more of a surrealist, anyway. See? That is my point. I am having synaptic misfires without my computer around and ready access to sanity. Stranger shit than normal is teaming up in my head.

Like - okay, see you know how when Two Vowels go walking - the first one does the talking? I think it was Electric Company that actually physically had the vowels meet and then stroll down the street arm in arm and so in my head I have this..... this loop. It is always running and it is of these two vowels meeting by a fence and kind of nodding and smiling at each other. Than the second vowel takes the arm of the first vowel and they walk away all genteel-like and I don't remember the first vowel actually talking but I do remember the second vowel nodding silently in agreement as they walked.

And somewhere along the way this loop got Jane Austenized. In my head. I think it happened the summer I turned 12.

But it is always playing - it is just background noise. So I'll be thinking of one thing and the see or hear or remember something else and the Two Vowels loop will try to team them up. Like thought A will see thought B and they will smile and nod and it becomes this whole Regency Drama of will they or won't they?

And usually they don't, although in the case of the Lethal Weapon Spike Angel Connection - they did. You just never know.

And normally I tend to ignore the walking duos because there is this CONSTANT parade and it can be overwhelming. But sometimes I can pay selective attention to a few and I'll make a connection that really excites me and YAY! Fun. But right now I am bored and not concentrating and just generally flailing and so I'm focusing on the lineup a lot more than usual.

But I generally lack the ability (and truth be told, inclination) to tell the difference between a quality creative connection and one that is just crack. Thus - Ledge.

Okay, so, first, as always, I adore you and your frenetic brain wave activity. The Two Vowels Go Walking loop? Explains so much about you. I feel very close to you right now.

Second, I have seen through "The Deal." This weekend I should be able to progress a lot further, although there must also be some sort of ceremonial cleansing of the DVR contents because that puppy is full and nearly everything on it is slated to be burned to DVD at least once if not four times before I can delete it.

If it would help, you could write up the message that you need to send to me about the Vid Idea Ledge and then tell me how far I need to get ASAP so you can send it to me. Or you could even send as long as you put a big ole note in the subject line not to read it until after [insert episode here or TBA].

When you say that you have seen through "The Deal" does this mean that you have watched "The Deal"? Because 3 of my favorite things in the world happen in that episode and I wonder if you can list what they are.

And the Idea Ledge has no real specific spoilers that are needed (although complete season one is always a good starting point just because of stuff) -- general character thoughts that I worry won't influence or spoil you directly but will change the way you view things or cause you to expect things and actually, this might be me being too worried because I find that I am censoring lines where I say "And yet this is not Fraser at all except that it *is* but it isn't at the same time!" because I think that is spoilery.

And the ledge is just self-indulgent crack. I can't tell if it is the good crack, though, or the kind I need to avoid. It does involve another trip to the library.

Yes, I have seen "The Deal." Yes, I believe I can list your 3 things.

Was I close? I know I'm in the ballpark and I bet I'm at least two for three. My runner-up is

So with the general character arc stuff that will lead me to expect things...how early in the series does the arc in question become evident? Because on some level I regret even knowing that "The Deal" was a major episode before I watched it because I was waiting for something bad to happen. But, on the other hand, the notion that, for example, "Things get bleaker and harder for Fraser as things go on" (do they? I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised) is not going to dampen my viewing experience.

P.S. I might be able to finish S1 tonight. Tomorrow definitely.

OMG! HOME RUN!!! OUT OF THE PARK.

Did you know that Ray Vecchio is Angel? I didn't until I saw the belt.

And your runner up is an honorable mention thing for me and that episode, except there were so many other things that killed me that it just kind of resides there for me in honorable mentionland.

And I think S1 is all you need to know. I'll wait cause - well I am going home and my PC needs much attention and that will distract me.

You can tell ME the vid idea! I am spoiler resistant.

It is not so much an idea as an association. It isn't even a full grown association so much as a little fledgling that may or may not need to exist out in the real world. Have you seen Full Metal Alchemist? These early germinations of thought are kinda like When Alchemy Goes Wrong. So it isn't a real idea so much as this other *thing* and Lum and renenet both are used to me saying "I'm not really sure what I am saying here and I think tomorrow I'll go and do research on this other topic, but I think this applies here as well" and just go with it or distract me with something else that is shiny.

Now, I have fully developed vid ideas for the Old97's "Alone So Far" and Richard Ashcroft's "On A Beach" but since both deal with isolation (albeit in very different ways) I need to decide *which* isolation vid I need to make because I don't know that I want to make two vids about isolation. That is a lot of alone time.

And there is a Lord King Bad Vid for Dief to Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" - I'm working on that as soon as I get my PC back.

I haven't seen Full Metal Alchemist. I haven't seen a LOT of stuff, so don't be shocked.

The Dief vid sounds great. Dief totally needs his own vid. He's the reason I started watching the show again, honestly. I needed a puppy fix.

I'm inclined to think that you need to go down to the geek shop and crack some heads there if for no other reason than so you can focus on American Gods. I just read it last month and my head is still swimming at the meta-ness of it. I can't wait until Shadow meets Angel or Spike at the fence in your head and you tell us about it.

I am so angry with myself because Shadow could not be a more perfect protagonist for me than if I had mailed a wishlist to Neil Gaiman.

And yet...I'm barely making any progress into the book at *all*!

Ooh, not Angel or Spike. Crighton! Let me know when you're done, you'll be all over that, I promise.

I have no idea WHO Shadow will run into in my head...

When two protagonists go walking...
