Pros: Very pretty. Historical. Culturally rich. Lotsa cool music and stuff to do. Not far from Austin.

Cons: Everything is very spread out. Very touristy. Texas heat.

It depends where in San Antonio you live. Some parts are great, some suck muchly. Overall it's a big town with a small town mentality. Which can be good and bad depending on what you need/want. It also depends on where you would be working. If you have to drive from home to certain parts of the city, it can be a horrible drive.

It also depends if you like living in a humid and hot area. The winters are pretty great but the summers are long, hot and miserable. For me it starts to become uncomfortable around late April/early May and remains uncomfortable until late October. So far it's been pretty mild for this time of year and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the summer doesn't hit even harder than usual because of that.

Pro: It's basically pretty cheap to live here compared to most places in the US.
Con: Because there is no State tax, a huge state and relatively low living expenses, there are very few public services (i.e. public transportation sucks, there are potholes everywhere, the public library is lame, etc). Also, wages are pretty low compared to other states.

Pro: Winters are very moderate.
Con: Summers will make you think you've gone to Hell.

Pro: Some parts of the city are really nice with parks, hospitals, shopping, dining, etc all in the same area.
Con: Some parts will make you think you were actually living in a third-world country.

Pro: There's some type of public party going on about once a month.
Con: There's some type of public party going on about once a month which makes it impossible to get where you want to go.

Pro: Still seems like a smallish town which promotes a sense of community (somewhat).
Con: Still smallish town-like which means the government is somewhat conservative, prone to corruption, large parts of the population are somewhat closed minded and it's tough to find anything/anyplace that isn't family oriented.

With more info I could probably help more.

I would say no but then my memories of San Antonio are colored by the haze of attending Basic Training at Lackland AFB. I just remember it being very hot and humid during the summer.

Yes you would. I don't live there anymore, but I am from there and I love it. It's a wierd mix of liberal Austin-type values and Texan no-nonsense attitude. Plus there are buildings older than our country and parades that take place on a river and parks that you wouldn't believe. The best dive bar in the universe is in San Antonio. It's called Taco Land and you have to duck underneath a low branch of a 100 year old Live Oak tree to get in the front door. You'll see some of the best (and worst) Roots-Music bands you've never heard of there (and a few other places too.)

There are only two seasons in San Antonio - Summer and January. The weather is a bit hot, but they take their Air Conditioning very seriously.

I am east coast girl living in Austin - I have to say, I've loved visiting, but the people I'v spoken to who lived there (and now don't, so probably a little biased) hated it. Downtown ir really beautiful.

They might be slightly more amenable to interracial dating.
