Vidding Purge
May. 11th, 2005 12:08 pmI am in a good mood, despite being awake until 3am (WTF? I mean, I know I was wired but there was absolutely no caffiene *after* 1pm). Thankfully, the same thing that wires me also seems to to make sleep some vague need that I may or may not pursue.
Also food. Food is optional, too. I kind of like this feeling - it is very Cylonish. They are the new Blue, you know.
Major Life Vidding Decisions
1. I am 85% decided that the Kill Bill vid will be my premiere vid for Vividcon. I have some general tweaking to do with some of the effects and a few cuts, but by and large this vid is completed and I have lived with it for months and I am still very proud of it.
2. The Deadwood vid is not dead, just not a premiere vid. I did not want to cut the song and the theme is just so... I don't want to rush getting this vid right. I want to take my time and let it do and be what it needs to be and one of the things I really really need to do with this vid is admit that my current vidding set-up lacks the power necessary to use avisynth. Yes - the idea behind using the vob files directly as clipping source is incredibly valid and good and the quality is fantastic. But constant program freezes and reboots and being unable to scrub through clips are creating a level of frustration that is just styming all efforts to lose myself in the story. So, yeah - I'm gonna just go in the old fashioned way and clip for this vid and take my time and it will be what I needed it to be all along.
And now that there is not a deadline - I can linger all I want on this project. I am not keeping it going merely because
renenet has threatened my life if I abandon it. No. No, that would be exactly not why I am doing this.
meep.
3.
f1renze has relieved me greatly by, well offering is such a strong word. I'm worried that I may have bull-dozed her into collaborating on my AtS S5 vid idea that started off fantastically and then just hit a big brick wall of denial. Kinda like S5 itself, if you wanta go that route. But Flo, precious Flo-bee, will now help me whip this sucker into shape and I don't have to watch Wes DIE!! YAY.
The plan is I get all wacky with the source and then Flo flips out and kills people. This is a very good plan.
4.
a) The matter remains then of the 3 Smallville vids that are still sitting on my PC. Two are so close to being done that really - it wouldn't take much at all. I could finish one tonight. The other isn't anywhere near being completed but it just looks so cool and I love the idea of what I was doing so much that it seems a shame that it never will happen.
But right now, if I have to even think about Smallville, I will scream. I have no idea what is going on but I just feel really finished with the entire thing. I don't think it is one thing so much as I am just tired of it all. The vids though, they are not bad vids. I feel terrible about not letting them live to their full vid-potential. They are like all the little almost slayers that never made it to Buffy's house. And I never made my Jonathan vid! Or the Lana one! But - ack! I just can't. Not now and so I am trimming the files on those vids, also, tonight and just ridding my HD of the clutter.
b). This decision feels good and I am relieved. Somewhat. I still kinda wish that there was a Vid In Progress Amnesty Day for vidders in which we could just upchuck those vids which really might one day work, but aren't now for whatever reason. Then I wouldn't feel so guilty because *someone* will like the unfinished things. Hell, people loved that little snippet I cut out of Battleflag and that wasn't even a vid! That was a part of a vid that never made it to the (also unfinished! A THEME) final vid.
But I have made decisions and I have plans and now I feel better about everything. Also, I know who killed Lilly Kane. I have no idea what this means - but Knowledge is Power.

3. Who's Lilly Kane?
4. The Kill Bill vid that you showed a couple of months ago?

Date: 2005-05-11 05:40 pm (UTC)2. If I put them on CD then they might become lost forever. I might just store 'em on the E drive.
3. She is this Veronica Mars character who was murdered and they found out who did it last night. Well, all the people on my fList who didn't post about "House" posted about VM.
4. Yeah - that's the one.

Date: 2005-05-11 05:42 pm (UTC)2. Can you think of anything else we can put in a numbered list?
3. Oh. Veronica Mars.
4. Cool! Can I see it again?

Date: 2005-05-11 05:51 pm (UTC)2. I dunno - we could number random objects on our desks? Or what we could have Angel then do with said random objects.
3. Yeah - I'm seeing over-the-top-giddy reactions and I'm seeing anger and pain. Smells just like the Joss days so I think I am sitting this one out.
4. Sure!

Date: 2005-05-11 05:59 pm (UTC)A. And I'm avoiding work by doing it.
2. I just counted the stuff on my desk.
A. 12 sets of DVDs--all of BTVS and all of ATS
B. DVD player
C. VCR
D. TV.
E. A zillion other disks of varying importance and hue.
F. 96 other objects, ranging from notebooks to scribble in to a piggy bank to 3 pairs of Liza's earrings that she's never going to see again and a vase full of roses.
3. Sometimes, I'm glad that I'm not watching anything LIVE.
4. I'm home tonight. Send it!

Date: 2005-05-11 06:32 pm (UTC)2. Work? What Work?
3. My desk is so covered I can't even see it - shortlist
A. a 3 inch stack of mail I need to process and file
B. bottle of Ibuprofen
C. Useless dictionary - but it is PINK!
D. Roledex that is hemmoraging cards and I just can't seem to care.
E. benefit catalog full of stuff I can't afford
F. adding machine with broken tape that I can't get to reload.
G. Did I mention the 3 inch stack of mail? Cause I just got another inch.
H. 18 files in a pile labeled "Close TODAY!" and I can't even remember when I wrote that postit so there ya go.
I. Dayplanner opened to April 19th. That was the last day I must have used it. It was under the file stack. That must have been when I wrote the postit as well.
J. Headset flung down on top of files in disgust when once again, I couldn't hear a damned thing the phoner is telling me.
3. I love watching TV live - I just hate watching it live with fandom at large. This is why we have a tight circle. Circling the Wagons is GOOD.
4. Will do!

Date: 2005-05-11 05:54 pm (UTC)ninjallama! ::wipes tear::But really - I'm honored and excited and I can't wait to kill and I'm just so, so glad you're feeling better about all this.

Date: 2005-05-11 06:11 pm (UTC)WHY isn't there one of these? Seriously. Can we make one? Please? Because I have all these (okay, like two) little vids that are almost done and they TRIPPED at the finish line and it seems ashame that they will forever have to live in the dank, dark pit that is my hard drive and never ever see the light of day.
Er, yes. Won't someone think of the half (and 2/3, and 95%)-finished vids?

Date: 2005-05-11 10:13 pm (UTC)*I* want to see a Spectacle of an Event! I feel you should do this. And then we could follow suit. And then...I don't know. Something cool will happen. There will be fireworks or puppies or maybe special edition M&Ms.

Date: 2005-05-11 08:03 pm (UTC)2) I don't think I've threatened your life, technically. I mean, maybe I have and I just don't remember. I've certainly threatened you within an inch of your life. I think that you and the Deadwood vid could be OTP, but only when you're ready. And on the first few dates you were nervous and skittish and couldn't relax and were just not comfortable with the situation and so you and the vid were fumbly and stepping on each others' toes and then someone slipped and someone else tried to keep the first someone from falling and you whacked heads something awful and it was time to go to separate quarters and just chill. But the vid sent you those roses and you wrote it that lovely thank you note and you'd both like to try again some day. When you feel ready I'll spring for some dance lessons for the pair of you because you kids were meant to be and you'll both feel it too as soon as you get to the point where you're not looking at your feet but into one another's eyes when you dance.
3) Flo-bee!
4a) Is the second SV vid you mention the one that I love the idea of and flipped out at the five seconds of that I saw? Because that one is on my list of Vids You Have To Finish Or I Will Hound You From Beyond The Grave. It's just not, you know, at the top of the list. But you have to archive what you've got. (You can reclip anything you haven't used yet later.)'Cause, see, it's not really a SV vid. It's SV-ness can go completely AU. *Completely* AU. Because of the overall story being told. If it's the one I'm thinking of. If it's something else, then whatever.
4b)Hey, could Vid In Progress Amnesty Day also be a chance to show your rejected child who you make live in the coal bin in the basement? ::cough::X-Filesvid::cough::
no subject
Date: 2005-05-11 08:47 pm (UTC)2) Well maybe not my life, but my general well-being was threatened. This is all fine and dandy now because me and that vid apparently are living in a romantic comedy.
3)FLO-BEE!! Flips out and kills people!
4a)The thing with the thing? Yeah - that is the one. I've already done so much with photoshop on that one that I really can't condense the file much more. One day I will try to finish it, but right now just no more SV. But I do love it cause it is *completely* AU.
4b) So yeah - VIP Amnesty day for me would feature (so far): a QaF vid I will never finish, the x-files vid that lives in the coal bin, and the SV vid about the daddies (cause really and truly I should just bleeding *finish* Baby - maybe I'll put it aside for next year's club vivid).
