I should be replying to comments, but whatever - I just realized today is my late day at work and I totally could have slept in and I didn't so now I am just gonna be stuck here for twelve hours. Or not. There is a Nightwing 105 came out last week, right? I think I need to go shopping...
Of course, I also need to get to the DMV - my car is ready for inspection, all my info that I supposedly will need is right at my fingertips, the money I need is sitting in the bank and for once, I am prepared to get something accomplished. This will be my third or fourth trip downtown to accomplish this goal, but it takes me time and many attempts to be successful at anything. Back when I was first getting my license, I went to take the actual driving test three times before they would let me, y'know, take the test. One time Dawn forgot her license (I couldn't prove I had a licensed driver with me) and another time - I forget what happened then, but it was becoming ridiculous.
And I could get most of this mess over with today and I should but I cannot go and stand in line at the DMV for three hours and then come back to work and stay here into the night. I just can't.
I'll do it later this week. Maybe Wednesday. That will be a good day to get out of the office and I can combine it with something else I need to do downtown - I'm certain there is a cop in this city I need to talk to or a police report I should pick up.
There are so many things I want to talk about that are not the DMV - except all my thoughts are jumbling with other thoughts and I don't have any nonExtreme-Rambley posts, and while I accept a certain measure of ramble as just me being me on a tangent - I really am unable to stay on one good topic at all right now.
All posts on Stargate Atlantis turn into me noting I apparently have an easily frustrated attention span and I wish I had closed captioning TV because Daniel talks way to fast. Seriously, this is possibly one of the reasons I can't watch Stargate, I can't understand a word out of his mouth. Well, I can - it just took me three tries to watch the first part of the premiere episode to get what he was talking about. I heard him speak - I just couldn't tell you what it was he was saying.
And then - instead of talking about what I thought about Atlantis and any of the characters - like Weir is possibly my hero, but I may just be reacting to the fact that she has her pullover zipped all the way up and House has conditioned me to find lack of cleavage in the workplace a refreshing change. So far, she makes me happy. My favorite - and I know it is supposed to be Sheppard since he is the John Crichton in the bunch - but my favorite is Rodney because my first thought when I saw him was that he is the Quentin Tarantino of the bunch and then I realized he is the heavily medicated Tarantino and then I realized he was trying to have a farewell moment with his cat and the cat was not cooperating and then he did the whole "Using power, using power, using power" thing and I realized that I Love This Man. Even if he turns out to be evil - I will follow him to the dark side.
In real life, he is exactly my type.
That and Ford is so very pretty. I mean, he is distractingly pretty. I am so worried that someone is gonna mess that up. I plan on screaming "Not the face" if ever he engages in combat.
So I am about an hour into the first episode and I've watched this hour a lot just to get everything (cause again - I can't seem to understand English lately) and I do tend to fall asleep while watching (not anything to do with quality - I'm just tired - I fell asleep watching Angel the other night) and one time I woke up and Marilyn Manson was getting ready to torture Doggett and I think there were vampires and I am positive I was not dreaming this part - so I look forward to what's to come. I just need my ears to unpop or something.
Seriously - I missed half of what was said last night on Deadwood. When I have DVDs this is not a problem, I just switch on the subtitles. I need to get back on regular Sudafed, but now that we have identified that as the cause of my insomnia (YAY!! I can sleep like a NORMAL PERSON) I am really reluctant to use it (except I really need it).

Date: 2005-03-14 09:06 pm (UTC)You know what? I thank god that Bobby and Darien predate Spuffy and CLex cause I so could not deal with Dabby or Borien. Hee - wasn't Borien a character in LotR?
I wish to end this name smushing. It is starting to freak me out.

That's...disturbing.

Date: 2005-03-14 03:42 pm (UTC)And Rodney! Every loves Rodney. And Shep - everyone loves Shep. Okay, so I personally don't love Shep but McShep is just sooooo...vid-able, don't you think? *looks hopeful*
I plan on screaming "Not the face" if ever he engages in combat.
*snort* That's going to stick in my head now.

Date: 2005-03-14 03:54 pm (UTC)But I really like Rodney - Rodney and Weir are currently propelling my viewing. Shep - I don't not like him. He seems okay, a bit formulaic in his Everyman, yet also damned good pilot with special genes --The Boy immediately identified him as the character the audience is supposed to access the show through, and I can understand the need of having Shep. And I think he is charming and I really liked the "not touching" bits at the beginning - so I am confident he will grow on me once we get past the setup.

Date: 2005-03-14 10:07 pm (UTC)It took some time for Shep to grow on me (I've complained long and loud (okay, once *g*) about the lack of character-development in Atlantis) but Rodney was my baby from Day 1. And Rodney/Weir first tweaked my interested in 'The Storm' - that was sweet. I hope you do get into Atlantis, that would be so cool. :)

Date: 2005-03-14 10:34 pm (UTC)I did try - Teal'c or T'ealc or whatever his name is -- there was this one ep where he was a fireman and if this show was about firemen led by Teal'c, than I would probably watch.
There was another ep where they were all in the 1960's and riding in a van and going to Woodstock and I thought I dreamed that episode, but then I saw clips from it in a vid, so I think it exists.
See - I've tried!!

Date: 2005-03-14 08:56 pm (UTC)(And yes - William is so geek-boy it is painful, but my view of Spike as a character was fully formed by then. I wasn't exactly surprised by William, though. Poor Spike).

I plan on screaming "Not the face" if ever he engages in combat.
"Never, ever touch this face, baby." [/Darien] :D

Date: 2005-03-15 11:11 pm (UTC)Yes! McKay! Atlantis is my show & I'm so happy when I see others get into it. *g* Ok, maybe too happy. McKay was an established character on SG-1 in 2 previous episodes (season 5 (or 4?) "48 Hours" & season 6 "Redemption") that you might want to check out some time. His character development/role reminds me a lot of Wesley, as weird as that sounds. Not personality, but role. He was brought in as an antagonist for Sam Carter--an asshole astrophysicist, much like Wesley was brought in as the asshole Watcher to counter Giles. But they've really developed his character well since then. I was so happy he ended up in the spin-off because he really grew on me in "Redemption".
