I should be replying to comments, but whatever - I just realized today is my late day at work and I totally could have slept in and I didn't so now I am just gonna be stuck here for twelve hours. Or not. There is a Nightwing 105 came out last week, right? I think I need to go shopping...

Of course, I also need to get to the DMV - my car is ready for inspection, all my info that I supposedly will need is right at my fingertips, the money I need is sitting in the bank and for once, I am prepared to get something accomplished. This will be my third or fourth trip downtown to accomplish this goal, but it takes me time and many attempts to be successful at anything. Back when I was first getting my license, I went to take the actual driving test three times before they would let me, y'know, take the test. One time Dawn forgot her license (I couldn't prove I had a licensed driver with me) and another time - I forget what happened then, but it was becoming ridiculous.

And I could get most of this mess over with today and I should but I cannot go and stand in line at the DMV for three hours and then come back to work and stay here into the night. I just can't.

I'll do it later this week. Maybe Wednesday. That will be a good day to get out of the office and I can combine it with something else I need to do downtown - I'm certain there is a cop in this city I need to talk to or a police report I should pick up.

There are so many things I want to talk about that are not the DMV - except all my thoughts are jumbling with other thoughts and I don't have any nonExtreme-Rambley posts, and while I accept a certain measure of ramble as just me being me on a tangent - I really am unable to stay on one good topic at all right now.

All posts on Stargate Atlantis turn into me noting I apparently have an easily frustrated attention span and I wish I had closed captioning TV because Daniel talks way to fast. Seriously, this is possibly one of the reasons I can't watch Stargate, I can't understand a word out of his mouth. Well, I can - it just took me three tries to watch the first part of the premiere episode to get what he was talking about. I heard him speak - I just couldn't tell you what it was he was saying.

And then - instead of talking about what I thought about Atlantis and any of the characters - like Weir is possibly my hero, but I may just be reacting to the fact that she has her pullover zipped all the way up and House has conditioned me to find lack of cleavage in the workplace a refreshing change. So far, she makes me happy. My favorite - and I know it is supposed to be Sheppard since he is the John Crichton in the bunch - but my favorite is Rodney because my first thought when I saw him was that he is the Quentin Tarantino of the bunch and then I realized he is the heavily medicated Tarantino and then I realized he was trying to have a farewell moment with his cat and the cat was not cooperating and then he did the whole "Using power, using power, using power" thing and I realized that I Love This Man. Even if he turns out to be evil - I will follow him to the dark side.

In real life, he is exactly my type.

That and Ford is so very pretty. I mean, he is distractingly pretty. I am so worried that someone is gonna mess that up. I plan on screaming "Not the face" if ever he engages in combat.

So I am about an hour into the first episode and I've watched this hour a lot just to get everything (cause again - I can't seem to understand English lately) and I do tend to fall asleep while watching (not anything to do with quality - I'm just tired - I fell asleep watching Angel the other night) and one time I woke up and Marilyn Manson was getting ready to torture Doggett and I think there were vampires and I am positive I was not dreaming this part - so I look forward to what's to come. I just need my ears to unpop or something.

Seriously - I missed half of what was said last night on Deadwood. When I have DVDs this is not a problem, I just switch on the subtitles. I need to get back on regular Sudafed, but now that we have identified that as the cause of my insomnia (YAY!! I can sleep like a NORMAL PERSON) I am really reluctant to use it (except I really need it).

Hee. Oh, man, I adore you.

And Rodney is so not gonna turn out evil.

And you will love him even more. Do you have all the episodes? Do I need to send you some crack? Cuz I can and I will. =)

HE TRIED TO HAVE A MOMENT WITH HIS CAT!!! You should write that fic. The goodbye to the cat fic - complete with the cat not cooperating with the creation of a MOMENT.

Yes - I need that story now.

And as far as the crack goes - so far [livejournal.com profile] astolat has been a very prompt and conscientious dealer (all I did was express an interest in snark. Fandom is like the bird flu, only less deadly). I currently have many, many eps and if I only could just quit my job, I'd be caught up already. Damned food and shelter addiction.

I second this wholeheartedly. The world needs that fic.

realized that I Love This Man. Even if he turns out to be evil - I will follow him to the dark side.

YEEEEEES!!!! Yay, yay, yay!!! You have found the Rodney McKay love. My life is complete. Now go to the McSheppy place and all will be right with the world.

Well - before I ever head over there - we are gonna have to do something about the name. McSheppy? Are you serious? Is this what people call it? It sounds like a dog or a breakfast sandwich.

You know what? I thank god that Bobby and Darien predate Spuffy and CLex cause I so could not deal with Dabby or Borien. Hee - wasn't Borien a character in LotR?

I wish to end this name smushing. It is starting to freak me out.

No, they just call it McShep...I was mixing up my fandoms and Buffyizing and typing faster than my brain was moving and now I'm confused. Normally I agree on the name smushing. But..c'mon. McShep...doesn't it just roll of your tongue? Isn't it just so cute you could die? No? Fine. You type out McKay/Sheppard a billion times. Which, you will. Oh yes, I promise you won't be able to resist. You're already halfway there with the Rodney love.

I so could not deal with Dabby or Borien.

That's...disturbing.

Well now I have this entire Voyager story going in my head where the crew accidentally becomes embroiled between what they first assume is a conflict of the Dabbies and the Boriens, but it just turns out this is how these two cultures get along and Janeaway just needs to get the hell outta there cause her people are disrupting their rhythms.

It is hard to Understand the Snark from Space.

I hate to say it, but what it really sounds like is a breakfast sandwich *containing* dog.

Oooh you're watching Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis? Does this mean Stargate vids in the oh *waves hand vaguely* very VERY near future? *looks hopeful*

And Rodney! Every loves Rodney. And Shep - everyone loves Shep. Okay, so I personally don't love Shep but McShep is just sooooo...vid-able, don't you think? *looks hopeful*

I plan on screaming "Not the face" if ever he engages in combat.

*snort* That's going to stick in my head now.

Oh no - I can't get into SG-1 -- I have tried. In fact, my most difficult moments watching Atlantis were the Daniel-moments because I can't understand him - literally. I have no idea what he is saying and it frustrates me. I did like the moment in the premiere where all the Atlantis people were going through the Stargate and Daniel makes a little move like he wants to join them and Jack stops him and I went "Oh, they are so married" but that is mostly cause of vids. And there are already so many good vidders of SG-1, I have no earthly idea what it is I could say that they haven't covered wonderfully.

But I really like Rodney - Rodney and Weir are currently propelling my viewing. Shep - I don't not like him. He seems okay, a bit formulaic in his Everyman, yet also damned good pilot with special genes --The Boy immediately identified him as the character the audience is supposed to access the show through, and I can understand the need of having Shep. And I think he is charming and I really liked the "not touching" bits at the beginning - so I am confident he will grow on me once we get past the setup.

Daniel's a passionate humanitarian, a civilian inside a military orgnization. Jack's career military. Their dymanic blows me away, so your Daniel-confusion makes me cry *cries and cries and...sniff* I'm okay now. :)

It took some time for Shep to grow on me (I've complained long and loud (okay, once *g*) about the lack of character-development in Atlantis) but Rodney was my baby from Day 1. And Rodney/Weir first tweaked my interested in 'The Storm' - that was sweet. I hope you do get into Atlantis, that would be so cool. :)

My Daniel confusion has everything to do with not understanding a word he says. Sorry - I'm certain he is a wonderful person and I have seen many vids that attest to this. I also don't really like military-settings at all (I have a thing) so SG:1 is not going to ever really appeal to me.

I did try - Teal'c or T'ealc or whatever his name is -- there was this one ep where he was a fireman and if this show was about firemen led by Teal'c, than I would probably watch.

There was another ep where they were all in the 1960's and riding in a van and going to Woodstock and I thought I dreamed that episode, but then I saw clips from it in a vid, so I think it exists.

See - I've tried!!

Rodney is the Blair, the Methos, the Spike of fandom, the darling geek boy that no pairing can be without.

Actually, on this show, so many geeks, so little time...

Hee - I'm with you on all the rest but I have never seen Spike as the darling geek boy (that was Xander). Spike was the outsider, the comic relief and the terrifying product of Angel. This is possibly influenced by *when* I started watching BtVS.

oh, no! I wasn't saying that spike was a geek boy (though you know, William was, I'm just saying.) McKay is the one that the fans fall for; he's the little black dress of the fandom.

Ohhhh! I see. Wait a sec, you mean there is competition for McKay? No, I want him. Who do I have to arm-wrestle to get 'em?

(And yes - William is so geek-boy it is painful, but my view of Spike as a character was fully formed by then. I wasn't exactly surprised by William, though. Poor Spike).

I am already thinking of episodes in which I suspect Sheppard will grow on you. But Rodney, oh yes... Rodney. *sighs happily*

I plan on screaming "Not the face" if ever he engages in combat.

"Never, ever touch this face, baby." [/Darien] :D

Yes! McKay! Atlantis is my show & I'm so happy when I see others get into it. *g* Ok, maybe too happy. McKay was an established character on SG-1 in 2 previous episodes (season 5 (or 4?) "48 Hours" & season 6 "Redemption") that you might want to check out some time. His character development/role reminds me a lot of Wesley, as weird as that sounds. Not personality, but role. He was brought in as an antagonist for Sam Carter--an asshole astrophysicist, much like Wesley was brought in as the asshole Watcher to counter Giles. But they've really developed his character well since then. I was so happy he ended up in the spin-off because he really grew on me in "Redemption".
