Dirty Girls
Apr. 14th, 2003 10:30 pmOh...
Xander...?
Xander is gonna be okay, right?
I mean, he can still see - he just won't have depth perception. I don't have depth perception and I'm okay.
He already has the eye-patch from the pirate costume. He could get a harmonica and a leather jacket and start acting like Patch from Days of Our Lives. It could be his thing. His new thing...::cries::
Where was Anya?

Date: 2003-04-14 09:17 pm (UTC)Wasn't the episode particularly violent and bloody this week? I thought so....

Date: 2003-04-14 09:28 pm (UTC)Jack was all cool - except for the raping of Kayla thing. That was not cool.
I was always a Brady girl myself. Mmmmm...Bo... Mmmmm...Roman...
Except Bo wasn't really a Brady...
Re:
Date: 2003-04-14 09:34 pm (UTC)Brady's are fine by me. :) Actually, I think I'm more attracted to the looks of the Hortons, but the personalities of the Bradys.

Date: 2003-04-16 07:02 pm (UTC)I thought Mike Horton was the dude on Forever Knight? Or was that Greg Evigan? Man - I've got Greg Evigan on the brain - what's up with that?
Re:
Date: 2003-04-16 07:16 pm (UTC)Greg Evigan was the guy in My Two Dads and Tekwars (those crappy William Shatner written made-for-tv movies)
Geraint Wyn Davies played Nick Knight on Forever Knight, but I discovered (while I was looking how to spell the guy's name) that in the original pilot for Forever Knight, RICK SPRINGFIELD was cast as Nick Knight!! wheee!!
Okay... I'm sure that was way more information than you wanted.
Re:
Date: 2003-04-16 08:33 pm (UTC)Greg Evigan was also BJ in "BJ and the Bear"- right?
Re:
Date: 2003-04-17 06:18 am (UTC)into various adventures and misadventures along the way.
Oh my god. What a premise! I don't know if I'm sorry I'm too young to have seen this, or grateful. Hmm.
And yes, Greg Evigan was B.J.
You wanna know what's sad? I enjoy looking up all this useless information.

Date: 2003-04-15 10:54 am (UTC)I finally had to stop watching DOOL because it was 10 days of rehash and one day of a tiny step forward. If life were even remotely like soaps, I'd have to kill myself. Or at least go bankrupt over the wardrobe and cosmetics.
Re:
Date: 2003-04-15 12:11 pm (UTC)And I have a vivid memory of soap opera video montages - I think there were like 3 different ones to Shane/Kimberly for that "Friends and Lovers" song -- and the infamous Patch fantasy - he is dancing w/ Kayla to the strains of "Lady In Red" - I never ever bought that would be his big Kayla dream...well, maybe I bought it a little.

*sobbing for Xander*

Date: 2003-04-15 06:25 am (UTC)Well you can't clean up Steve and give him a pedigree and call him Stefan. It is the difference between Spike and William. One I like, the other weirds me out in a not fun way.
On a side note - I really need to stop with this constant compare and contrast I've got going on. It is almost as if everything I have every watched is now lined up in my head, waiting for the moment when it too will be relevant in helping me make sense of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Date: 2003-04-14 09:45 pm (UTC)Do you have the episode? I was trying to get it from Lum on DC, but her slots were full, and now she signed off..
The one word I did see in your post was "Xander". Gee, I hope he doesn't die.. that would be sad.

Date: 2003-04-15 05:29 am (UTC)Yeah, Xander. Both of his bits in last night's ep put me into tears. For him to give such a fantastic speech about Buffy, for her to hear it and know that it came from his heart *sob* and then for Caleb to say, "so you're the one who *sees*..." and then... and then... OHGOD. I was a mess for a couple of hours last night.

Date: 2003-04-15 07:01 am (UTC)You had to watch yet another heartwrenching episode alone?!
I think NF makes an awesome villain, don't you?
Re:
Date: 2003-04-15 09:35 am (UTC)I am so used to seeing him as the all-american (all-space?) boy - even w/ Mal's edge, he is so clearly defined as the"good man" that evil psycho preacher really was effective. That and he likes the teachings of Paul. If anybody on BtVS or AtS says, "Road to Damascus, my ass" I am so calling a shoutout.
I was okay alone - thankfully Xander's speech kind of prepared me - as soon as I heard it and saw Buffy hear it, I knew something really bad was going to happen to Xander. Since he only lost one eye and I was expecting something even worse, I almost was relieved. Crying, but relieved. Poor Xander. I hope he doesn't die.
I can't decide if I should be spoiled if Xander dies or not. It did make the Lilah thing easier to take (expecting it) but I don't know if I need to know.
Did you notice that Dawn did not touch anything last night. Am I paranoid now?
Re:
Date: 2003-04-15 09:49 am (UTC)NF makes an adorable, psychopathic, supernaturally powerful villain, IMO. I wanted to hear the necks snap, though. I mean, there's realism, and then there's realism.
As far as paranoid, well... you have good reason to be.

Date: 2003-04-16 09:17 am (UTC)I agree. Especially because of the dialect--when I first heard him I got all nostalgic for Firefly. (And the Potential in the car with him reminded me vaguely of Inara, too.) And then I was like, "Whoops... definitely not Mal."
I'm also with you on the Xander concern... though as Myrtle pointed out to me, if that's the greatest sacrifice he has to make, I suppose we Xander fans got off easy. Still... :whimper: Xander!
Incidentally, we watched Farscape's "Deadalus Demands" and "Icarus Abides" after Buffy last night. Um... yeah. Rough night for Brynn.
Re:
Date: 2003-04-16 11:18 am (UTC)Dear God!! Why would Myrtle do that to you right after "Dirty Girls"? If ever a night required repeated viewings of "Meltdown" and ignoring the fate of Black T-Shirt Crichton, it would be last night.
How are you? Can I bring you a beverage or a blanket?
I am still fearful for Xander. As Myrtle pointed out, that was not the greatest sacrifice he could make.

Date: 2003-04-16 06:30 pm (UTC)Hee. I'm pretty much OK, actually. I was prepared... for one thing, I'd been expecting it for awhile. As soon as they split off, I knew that one had to go eventually, and as soon as he started having all the good stuff happen to him, I knew it had to be him. For another thing, Myrtle plunked a big box of Kleenex next to me before we started watching. So I knew something big was coming. Plus, I am somewhat distracted by the many ways in which the Deadalus/Icarus metaphor worked for those two eps... I'm a sucker for a multi-layered metaphor. I was actually doing quite well right up until the point where Aeryn climbed under the blanket with him... then I lost it. Sigh. But I'm comforted by knowing that he's not altogether gone (I'm being vague here in case anyone stumbles across this who doesn't want to be spoiled, as I'm a total spoiler-phobe). Nothing compared to "Self-Inflicted Wounds." I wept like a small child the first time, then watched it again later (it was so well-done!) and bawled even more.
Still... "Meltdown" would've been nice. :) "Bad mist... naughty mist." Hee!
As for Xander... I hope he is relatively safe now, because I don't think they'd disfigure him and then kill him on top of it. I don't think even ME is that cruel. Plus, from a storytelling standpoint, it kind of diminishes the impact of the disfigurement if he's killed a few eps later. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
