Last Stand In Open Country
Oct. 13th, 2002 02:28 pmNew vid is up at http://www.headtilt.com/video.htm
It is called Last Stand and was mainly inspired by bonibaru's blog a few months ago about how there were no Angel/Lindsey vids. At the time I was listening rather obsessively (me, obsessive? - get out!) to "Maria, Shut Up and Kiss Me" on Willie Nelson's new album (CD - whatever - album will always sound cooler) "The Great Divide." Since there were other songs on the album and I couldn't see a vid to "Maria, Shut Up and Kiss Me" I decided to listen to the whole thing. This song is about Angel and Lindsey. Bernie Taupin wrote it and Willie is joined by Kid Rock. I described it to here's luck as "sweeping and epic" - sounds cool, huh? I don't know if it is sweeping and epic, but the song is quite moving. At least it is to my sister. When I was in the initial play-this-song-all-the-time-stage before the actual vidding started it would make her cry. On the other hand "Young Guns" makes her cry. Sometimes looking at the wall makes her cry. Stone-cold-bitch my ass. But I digress, originally we were going to end Country Cavalcade with this vid, but I couldn't figure out where to cut down the song to make it a vidlet. Plus, Lindsey=Pretty, so he gets a complete vid.
I have had sooo much help with this vid. Anyone that showed the slightest amount of interest was immediately conscripted to beta. Thanks to everyone for your time, it was appreciated. Special thanks to bonibaru for reminding me that Darla was distracting everyone from the pretty boys. Right on. Also - I don't think "thank you" is a strong enough term to aptly describe Luminosity's contribution to this vid. I might not have finished it without her help. If I had finished it, it would have been passable but nothing special. From her wonderfully in-depth emails that addressed everything from thematics to timing and her help in getting me clips that don't make the viewer seasick - I am eternally grateful.
So the vid is finished. The quick description that Dawn uses to describe it is "Angel and Lindsey: They love each other." She uses this description for all my vids though.
On to the next project: "Mission Temple Fireworks Stand" and, as always, "Closer" finished by Christmas. Because, when you think about it, nothing says Christmas more than filthy Angel/Spike slash.

Date: 2002-10-13 01:43 pm (UTC)I'd call the song epic and sweeping. Bernie Taupin wrote it? No wonder it's so - underlyingly gay! Heheh! The song makes the whole video, really; it's probably the Gayest Gunslinger Song ever. And Lindsay and country music just *work*. Your clip choices bring out the emotional peaks within the song and visually they make statements that lend to the overall feel that these two boys just need to be together no matter what dark forces are compelling them to be apart.
I need a song like that for Firefly, so let me know if Willie has anything else good on that album that you won't be using :)
ahhhh....

>>I need a song like that for Firefly, so let me know if Willie has anything else good on that album that you won't be using <<
I won't be using anything at all from that album again (sure, famous last words). The only other Willie song I can think that I might want to vid in the future would be "Pancho and Lefty" and that is Spike/Xander. Of course to pull it off, Spike has to die. And if he does die (as you have predicted) I bet it is a very lovely, "Blade Runner" Roy Batty type death and there will be a dove rising from the ashes and it won't fit that vid at all.
Firefly. Hmmm. "Riders In the Sky" maybe?

Date: 2002-10-14 06:50 am (UTC)Question: Is there any way for me to tell that you've gotten messages sent to you on live journal? (i.e. I'm the last entry on 10/13?- the one about the candy). Or should I just assume that vidding has taken over your life?
I haven't been able to watch your vids cause the sound is not working on my computer and my brother hasn't gotten around to fixing it yet.
Take Care, truth-searching woman.

Date: 2002-10-14 10:26 am (UTC)I was worried about posting replies to you here since there is no email alert for you. -So look back a couple of days and you'll see an answer :)
Oh and BTW - your brother so needs to fix the sound issue. The Smallville slash is just sitting out there - begging for you to download.
