I went out last night. Nothing wild, nothing crazy - a friend's sister-in-law (I've been to a few parties at her home) turned 30 and everyone went to a local club to celebrate. Normally this place has karaoke, but last night it was an actual band with actual instruments. I would have enjoyed the karaoke more - then I could have at least gotten drunk and sung my patented rendition of "Hopelessly Devoted to You." As it was the band that played (I didn't catch their name - I thought they said "Ludicrous" - but that just can't be) had fairly decent chemistry and appeared to understand the basics. The drummer wasn't very tight and not nearly good-looking enough to excuse his lack of skills. Maybe he was drunk. It also appears that their main musical influence has been Linkin Park. That was so sad. Well, not as sad as the song the lead singer advised was based on his divorce (divorce??! WTF - he looked 22!!) and mainly involved the repeated refrain of "Bitch!" They ended with a cover of "Pour Some Sugar on Me" - which I appreciated. Dancing to cheesy eighties anthems of meaningless sex is a major component of my current attempts to stay off the SSRI's. I wish it had been "Talk Dirty to Me" but I guess I will just have to wait for DP to vid it.

Before the band started I spent most of the evening attempting to explain to Annoying!Boy why I do not want to play online Scrabble.

Annoying Boy: "But F. said you do a lot of stuff online."

Me: "Yes, I do, but I'm not really into..."

Annoying Boy: "Don't you like Scrabble?"

Me: "Yes, of course I do. But when Scrabble drapes its shirtless body over a cross - its ass does not smoke - does it?"

That seemed to shut him up.

I left when I caught the cute guy at the bar eyeing me. I'm fairly certain I looked reasonably cute - I did put an effort into my appearance. He was tall, dark hair and glasses - just my type. Whew - glad I dodged that bullet! Imagine all the arguing I saved myself - and the kids! Why, they would have been insufferable brats. And I am sorry, but his mother just needs to get a life. See? If I had stuck around - that is the future that was staring me in the face.

New vid is up at http://www.headtilt.com/video.htm

It is called Last Stand and was mainly inspired by bonibaru's blog a few months ago about how there were no Angel/Lindsey vids. At the time I was listening rather obsessively (me, obsessive? - get out!) to "Maria, Shut Up and Kiss Me" on Willie Nelson's new album (CD - whatever - album will always sound cooler) "The Great Divide." Since there were other songs on the album and I couldn't see a vid to "Maria, Shut Up and Kiss Me" I decided to listen to the whole thing. This song is about Angel and Lindsey. Bernie Taupin wrote it and Willie is joined by Kid Rock. I described it to here's luck as "sweeping and epic" - sounds cool, huh? I don't know if it is sweeping and epic, but the song is quite moving. At least it is to my sister. When I was in the initial play-this-song-all-the-time-stage before the actual vidding started it would make her cry. On the other hand "Young Guns" makes her cry. Sometimes looking at the wall makes her cry. Stone-cold-bitch my ass. But I digress, originally we were going to end Country Cavalcade with this vid, but I couldn't figure out where to cut down the song to make it a vidlet. Plus, Lindsey=Pretty, so he gets a complete vid.

I have had sooo much help with this vid. Anyone that showed the slightest amount of interest was immediately conscripted to beta. Thanks to everyone for your time, it was appreciated. Special thanks to bonibaru for reminding me that Darla was distracting everyone from the pretty boys. Right on. Also - I don't think "thank you" is a strong enough term to aptly describe Luminosity's contribution to this vid. I might not have finished it without her help. If I had finished it, it would have been passable but nothing special. From her wonderfully in-depth emails that addressed everything from thematics to timing and her help in getting me clips that don't make the viewer seasick - I am eternally grateful.

So the vid is finished. The quick description that Dawn uses to describe it is "Angel and Lindsey: They love each other." She uses this description for all my vids though.

On to the next project: "Mission Temple Fireworks Stand" and, as always, "Closer" finished by Christmas. Because, when you think about it, nothing says Christmas more than filthy Angel/Spike slash.
