For everyone that put up with me while I was all cranky and bitchy and not a lot of fun to be around lately, thank you. Last night it snowed for a while and the freeze seemed to have killed off or dampened whatever it was that was bugging me and making my chest hurt, so I feel physically better - but I am still in a fairly foul mood.

So I'm gonna make this a short post and finish up some work and maybe work a bit on a post about lyrical interpretation and Keanu Reeves and if it turns out to not be mean-spirited, I'll post it later. Cause I am trying here, I really am.

Tonight I work late and then I am going by the market and going home and making soup. Now - I want to make the spiciest, gingeriest, most guaranteed to open up and clear your sinuses soup known to man or woman tonight. I was just gonna buy a bunch of stuff that looked good and throw it in a pot and call it soup, but then I figured that someone on my fList probably has the perfect Sinus-Death Soup recipe and would love to share it, so if this is the case, I'd be grateful.

Right now my plans center around sweet potatoes, red peppers, butternut squash and a variety of hot peppers and garlic and ginger and all of it roasted before becoming soup. Something like that...

Also - [livejournal.com profile] drdawn is apparently just getting over the flu, so I will share the proceeds. Your soup will go to a worthy cause -- please call now.

I wish I could help. I don't make soup, I buy soup already made for me and then heat it up and eat it and it is a very quick process that keeps me happy.

Hope you feel better though and let me know how the cooking experience goes.

Someday I will learn to cook.

garlic, chilis, onions and grated ginger sauteed in olive oil (don't let it brown, very very low heat, keep the top on) then add equal parts white wine and vegetable (chicken, which I prefer) stock. Put your veggies in wine the liquid simmers, potatoes first, and so on (in order of what needs the most time to cook). Enjoy!

[livejournal.com profile] heres_luck has a great post on making squash soup here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/heres_luck/140093.html). I have made the Thai curry variety using butternut squash and adding some ginger, and it was awesome both times. With the ingredients you've got, I'd think you could modify any of those recipes, baking the sweet potatoes along with the squash and adding both to the pot at once, for example. Good luck!
