So I am here, safely at my parent's home. I also now have Wonder Woman S1, a Wonder Woman Barbie Doll (seriously - I think I asked for it 20 years ago and mom just remembered) and best of all ANGEL SEASON 4!!

Getting here was interesting. The Parkway that I take for most of the way is fairly deserted but today it was almost totally plowed. I passed 4 plows on the way - some making a second run. I was excited to find the roads in such good condition and if the parkway was this clear, I figured I-65 would be great.

I figured wrong. I don't know why, but apparently one of the most travelled routes in the state did not rank clearing - or something. 65 was horrible. Traffic was lined up and moving at about 5 miles an hour.

Then I noticed something - a series of Tractor Trailers that all appeared to be acting in unison. Now, you have to know that I am a woman of a certain age and a Daughter of the South. I have a certain skill set that was carefully developed by repeated viewings of the Smokey and the Bandit movies -- supplemented by BJ and the Bear and Sheriff Lobo. I was watching something familar take shape and it did not take long for my wondering eyes to ascertain that directly in front of me was a CONVOY!

Well now - this was almost the fulfillment of a wish I did not know I wanted. I immediately jumped in line even though the convoy was getting over into the lane that was barely moving and I was soon rewarded as we suddenly hit freshly plowed roads and shot past all the looky-loos who had just passed us by.

A Christmas Convoy - I'd write a song but I think someone already did.

Hee! Convoys are fun :D When I was driving short-haul freight I used to listen in on the CB, it was fun to hear them conspiring to, for instance, run in tandem to keep people from zooming ahead in the lane that was closed.

It also occasionally got me around nasty wreck-induced traffic snarls. Yay, truckers!

Convoy- yay! I remember back in the 80's, some trucker protest over oil prices or something. They'd bunch up on the highway, take up all the lanes, then slow way down and block traffic. Anyway, we're road tripping with my grandma when we hit one such 'slow down'. Grandma gets on the CB, tells 'em a 'Mississippi Grandma' would like to get by- and sure enough, the guys pull over and let her blaze through!

Man, I so wanted to be a trucker when I was a kid. I blame 'BJ and the Bear'.

You'll never guess what I tore myself away from in order to come read LJ. Smokey and the Bandit! It's on AMC right now. The only reason I was able to break free was that I just spent two hours before that watching Hooper.

Have a good Christmas!

Convoy! A movie based on a song! I had a fantastic, power-to-the-people experience as a child watching it on the Afternoon Movie program on channel 43.
