Dec. 10th, 2004 04:10 pmMy family is not like other people's families.
Last night her kid complained to me that he has the theme song from "Full Metal Alchemist" stuck in his head and I told him he was lucky cause at least he can hum it in public. I have "The Internet is for Porn" stuck in my head and people will just look at you funny if they catch you singing that.
Then he got this inspired look in his eyes and said "Hey wouldn't it be cool if that song-and-dance demon from "Once More with Feeling, what was his name?"
"Sweet," I supplied.
"Yeah, wouldn't it be cool if Sweet was real and you were just walking down the street and all of a sudden everyone you passed started singing 'The Internet is for, internet is for, internet is for Pooooorn!' only it is real people and not puppets."
And - Ladies and Gentleman - other than the "not puppets" it was at that moment that I knew the true joy of influencing a younger generation.

Date: 2004-12-10 10:56 pm (UTC)My 6 year old steals my manga and looks at the pictures in her room. I pretend not to notice. I, too, am doing my part for the future. She knows who Sanzo is. This makes me proud.

Date: 2004-12-11 05:22 am (UTC)Or something like that - maybe I remember it wrong. And there was an extra pervy old dude hanging around. Anytime a VC Andrews chick met an older man, I was all "RUN!" unless that chick was Cathy and then I'd just feel sorry for the old dude.

Date: 2004-12-11 07:56 pm (UTC)I think the deal was that her dad was her dad but her mom wasn't really her mom. Her real mom was some rich girl he had fallen hopelessly in love with who had died in childbirth. Then he married this really stupid mountain woman stereotype. Then he got syphillus from screwing the wrong whores and went crazy and started thinking little Heaven was the dead girlfriend. Of course the stupid mountain woman stereotype also got the syphillus and did the deathbed confession where she told little Heaven that she really belonged to this rich family and Heaven blew town.
I think.
The book that came out after that one - Garden of Shadows - was actually really good (at least compared to all of the others.) ; )
