Is there anyway to import a saved Word Doc into Photoshop so you can, you know, do stuff to it? I thought it would be simple and I got up and came straight to the computer but now it isn't and I must be missing something and I probably just need coffee.

God I hate Sunday just because I spend all day in complete dread of it ending. Is there anyone who doesn't feel this way and what do you do for a living?

when I first wake up I LOVE Sundays...

they *feel* more leisurely than Saturday mornings- maybe it's the Sunday morning paper taking more time to consume and traditional Family brunches. But then somewhere around mid-day, yeah- all of sudden there is this Ack! weekend is over and it'll be another 5 days till you feel free and not work slave!

I figure I have another 2 or so hours of feeling relaxed and free until the dread sets in.

My sleepy answer would be Print Screen but I highly doubt that's what you meant. And I start dreading the end of weekend from Saturday afternoon. Oh life.

I think screencap is the only way to go for the Word doc, but I could be wrong :( And I hate Sundays 'cause it's not the day I get to sleep in.

Yeah, if there's anyone out there who has a solution to the Sunday = End of Weekend = Five Day Doom go tell the world. You'll be a rich girl/guy! (I'm prepared to pay good money for that kind of info...)

Screencap it, and import the cap into Photoshop.

you could try saving as a pdf file--go into the print menu

word to photoshop

Copy/paste.
Copy your text, go into photoshop and open a new file of the size you want, choose the text tool and options to match (font, size, colour etc.), click on your new page so you see the text cursor and then paste. It's kinda clunky for large areas of text.
If you copy/paste without using the text tool then it treats the text as a single image.
Good luck. It's one of those things you really need to play about with to get the relative sizes of your source file and your destination file manageable.

when I was doing my photo album, I wanted to use Word to do some complex formatting, but then mix it in with images and end up with a jpeg. Screen shots of the word doc weren't doing it (the edges weren't right) so the thing I ended up doing was printing it out to paper from word on my laserjet, then scanning it back in. The results in the printed book were fabulous, I was mucho impressed. It may have helped that I made the font a bit bigger on my print out, and then scaled the size down in photoshop... if you have the ability to turn a word doc into a pdf, photoshop does in theory recognize pdf format, you might be able to do it that way...

Other people's suggestions look good, but I think it also depends on what you want to do. InDesign is the program used to handle large sections of text, and can handle images and whatnot imported from other Adobe programs.

Of course, that means getting your hands on InDesign. ;)

If you have a huge amount of text then I'd recommend getting hold of Quark Express or Pagemaker, both of which let you do professional magazine-type layouts where you have much more control over the text and images. Otherwise...er...I dunno.
