Damn. Darien just mentioned in "The Devil You Know" that he learned most of the standard B&E stuff in Soledad (along with some stuff he picked up in juvie *loves*). So now I am researching California State Prisons because Alex said in "The Camp" that Darien had done time in San Quention and Folsom.

It is important for my vid that I know.

Now I thought they said in the Pilot (or maybe elsewhere) that he was headed to Bakersfield. I'd assume this means he was headed to Corcoran State Prison? Damn. Now I have to re-watch the pilot.

"Death by lethal injection...sadly not being an option, it is the decision of this court that you, Darien Fawkes, be remanded to the maximum security penitentiary at Bakersfield, there to serve the remainder of your life without hope of parole."

Of course Darien talks in the Pilot of "a bottleneck at the federal pen." I don't see any federal penitentiaries in Bakersfield. Of course, I am not a lawyer and I don't live in California, so I have no idea how one gets sentenced in San Diego Municipal Court to go to the federal pen. Not that I see a federal pen in Bakersfield, anyway.

How do you want to wank it, honey? I'll help. I'm looking for the closest federal penitentiary.

How is he going to the federal pen?? The third strike thing would be a felony conviction in California, right?? And then Alex says he was in Folsom and San Quentin and I was happy with canon and also impressed cause - DAMN, Darien.

And then he says Soledad. Sigh. So - I paused his rap sheet and read it and it is very very lengthy. I am wondering if perhaps it was all felony charges - the way I understand 3rd strike law, it is the 3rd felony, right?

Now - isn't it possible that some of his time served was for nonfelony convictions? Wouldn't they be served in county jails though? Or are they more holding tanks in CA?

See - I need to know. This is important developmental stuff as we know Darien has been repeatedly locked up periodically from his adolescence onward. I need to fashion some sort of timeline here.

Of course if could be a fools-folly of wankitude as sometimes they just seem to drop the ball. Like in "The Camp" Alex says Bobby is former NSA and in the very next episode Bobby tells Darien he was never with them. Also - we shall remember Darien's dead daddy. Sigh. But I need to wank the prison thing because it is important. The time between teens to twenties to thirties is fundamental.

Okay, what if he was transferred from one prison to another during a single period of incarceration. It could happen, right?

Maybe some of the convictions occured before the three strikes law was put in place. Or maybe he was convicted, but jumped bail and they couldn't catch him.

Well, I'm pretty sure there are prisons in Soledad, Folsom, and San Quentin, but I don't think there's anything in Bakersfield. Then again, there's NOTHING in Bakersfield, so it's hard to say. :-> There's also a ton of county jails all over the place. I drive past one every day on my way to work.

And the CYA (California Youth Authority) is constantly getting sued so I'm sure it's not the greatest place to start out.
