So, yesterday was my day off and I spent it looking at puppies (online at Petfinders) in shelters and having various emotional breakdowns and pretty much having to be stopped from getting in my car and driving to the Barren River Shelter to rescue as many beagles as my car could hold. GOD. Every single petfinder post there was "Help! I don't like being in this high kill shelter and I'm scared!" Seriously. I am not exaggerating.
I did not go look at apartments. I think I have found the apartment I want and after this point, all other apartments are not-the-apartment-I-want and therefore do not exist. I did make a leek, corn, potato and bacon chowder with red peppers. It was good. I also attempted starting a sourdough starter, except I am pretty sure the sweetish sourdough bread I grew up on (probably not real sourdough, but does involve a starter) is very different than the sourdough recipes I am getting on the internet and if I would just pay my cell phone bill I could call people for the actual recipe I want (cause yeah, the bread I remember is my comfort food and the few times I've had San Franscisco sourdough, I've liked it but it isn't comforting) but that would involve having a phone that rings again and I have tried EVERYTHING to make my phone ringing non-repellant. My ringtone was "Don't Fear the Reaper" but then I started hating that and then I switched it to "I Wanna Be Sedated" which entertained me for a day and now I am wishing it was still Christmas cause Eric Cartmen singing "O Holy Night" was funny shit even if it only went off to tell me truly horrible things.
God. The horrible things...
*shudders in hindsight*
So, yeah. Beagles in peril and sourdough starter. What a day. I blame this for me spending the rest of the evening on youtube watching old 80's music videos which led to finding the Solid Gold Dancers which led to looking up Andy Gibb (*dreamy and slightly melancholy sigh*) and then finding Olivia Newton John's 1978 TV Special which led to Flashdance Parodies which led to actual Flashdance videos which led to remembering "Hey, I used to watch FAME!" which led to "Hey I USED TO LOVE FAME!" which led to me grabbing
sdwolfpup and making her watch clips of Jesse from Fame! with me because, sadly, I am not even cool enough to say that I only watched Fame! during its early years, when there would have been an excuse. No. I watched in the later Jesse/Nicole years when Janet Jackson would show up and Leroy could still be counted on to rock the short shorts and Debbie Allen wasn't getting any. Yeah. And I LOVED Jesse. I didn't even care when Nicole was killed by a drunk driver because she broke up with Jesse and was DEAD TO ME (and eventually everyone else and where is your career now Nia Peeples? HUH??). Also, that one time she and Jesse were gonna have sex and she showed up for the deed in a white granny nightgown? I mean, I was only a little kid, but even I was all "Come on!" She was a lot like Lana Lang, actually, only she would burst out into a performance song to demonstrate the depth of her emo pain. Not like Jesse. Jesse had depth and could always be counted on to totally bring the gay. Which I am only just now getting was one of the reasons I adored him so.
There should be an SGA AU mapped to Fame! It wouldn't even be the craziest thing the fandom's done this week. They could even use early Fame with Coco! It could work! (But Shepherd HAS to be Leroy).
