I'm Your Boyfriend Nowwwwww.....
Nov. 18th, 2003 03:02 pmI'm at work and I've actually been working today so I think I must be coming down with something. Seriously, I think I might be getting sick. My chest hurts. Good news, if I am getting sick and I continue to work, I may one day actually be caught up enough to take a sick day.
Yay!!! I haven't had one of those since...well, it was before July. Maybe March? I just checked my HR data and I took a day and a half of sick time back in February. So, if I get sick again and need to take a day - that is not shirking, is it? I'll probably be okay. I'm actively restraining myself from going to the CDC website to look up my symptoms. I'm all discombobulated cause this doesn't feel like West Nile, which can only mean that it is SARS. I think
renenet said last year that a symptom of SARS was general unwellness. I have that. Yes, general unwellness and tightness in the chest. Last night I had a cough, but today I don't. Which can only mean that the sickness has overtaken and overwhelmed my cough reflex. My neck hurts. Obviously, this may be meningitis combined with SARS. The fact that I work at a computer all day and then go home and play on a computer all night is irrelevant to my neck pain today. My hands ache as well, but it is just a rainy day and they always hurt more on rainy days and Vioxx is just to damned expensive. I just want to make it to tomorrow and get to see "Angel" cause apparently it will blow my mind. That is the only information I have on that: Me + watching Angel = blown mind. This will give me the strength I need to fight the evil virus invaders.
Finished the remaster of "Without Me" last night. I'm starting on "Last Stand In Open Country" again tonight - I'm restarting from scratch and I am doing the thing exactly how I did Without Me, since that worked so well. I'm also letting Premiere make some decisions on its own, cause apparently it likes to exercise its independance from me at times and it is a good little Non-Linear Editing program and I should just trust that I have raised it to the best of my abilities and that there are some choices in vidding that it will eventually have to make on its own. It is hard, letting go though. Fly little Premiere, fly!
hums Sunrise, Sunset
Onto my Austrian status: I feel Austrian, therefore I am. However, this not!writing or writing or whatever the hell it is - it just ain't happening. I know what happens in the body!swapping notfic, but I'm having a difficult time expressing it in any way that does not sound incredibly lame and stupid. So, I'm thinking this blows. Which makes me sad, cause it had so much potential and I wanted them to go to Babylon. Maybe I'll have Dawn read it and see what she thinks.
I watched "Nightmare on Elm Street" and it is still damned scary. Or, at least I remember being scared by it. Okay, Freddy's tongue coming out of the phone - Ewwww and yes! Great movie moment. Also, when the mom comes in and takes the lead girl's coffee away and she waits until her mom leaves and then pulls a coffee pot out from under her bed? Dawn says in Junior High, that one of her girlfriends was highly impressed by this example of movie-thinking ahead. The costumes were adorably ordinary - sweater vests and pleated chinos! Oxford cloth button downs! Why can't people dress like normal people in contemporary horror movies now-a-days? (and hee I feel like the Grumpy Old Man, "In my day, we didn't need a buncha fancy clothes!") But it does up the feeling of realism, when the lead is walking around in a sweater from Target, instead of the latest BCBG creation. At least for me. Of course, then you have the horror of getting blood on your $300 sweater and yeah, that could be very scary.
So I listened to the DVD commentary as well, cause I am a big dork like that, and Wes Cravens mentioned something that kind of sparked an idea for this cross-over - but it really isn't germaine to the original Polish fic summary Justin and Brian meet Freddy Krueger - except I don't think they spelled Krueger, right. So, how closely does this have to match? Could it just be inspired by this idea? Cause I got ideas, but Brian ain't a part of them and it is not a traditionally Freddy centered plot (mainly because the name is just not scary anymore - it has achieved iconic status and Freddy is pretty much a cartoon character now) - but is that cheating? I need ideas here - I need comtemplation of the challenge, I need help.
And I still don't think I'll write it.
