I GOT HIT BY A CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aug. 17th, 2004 05:21 pmOkay - so I pick Sid-the-Dog-Faced-Boy at the kennel and we were driving along and I was thinking about work and how sucky it would be to be in an accident and BOOM!
Rear-ended.
Now here is where I must complement GM. The Buick's crumple panels went to work absorbing the impact and between my seatbelt and the seatback the only part of my body to move was my head. Actually - my neck was KILLING me all month and really bad this last week (I store stress there) and it kinda feels better now - so weird. But I'll take it.
Sid was also seatbelted and is fine. I don't think he realized what happened.
I exchanged info with the other driver and made the executive decision (based on LOTS of experience on when a police report is needed) to just exchange info and not file a police report. No one was injured and both vehicles are drivable and my first words to her when I found out who she was (works for a local vineyarc) were "I LOVE YOUR WINE!" She had to be somewhere for her kid and I had the dog who needed to be at home and it was rush hour at one of the busiest intersections around.
Also - I had to pee.
NOW I AM SO JAZZED WITH ADRENALINE THAT I CAN BARELY TYPE!
If I wasn't so afraid of heights, I'd want to go jump out of an airplane RIGHT NOW!
Is this what it feels like to work out a lot?
So, while part of this sucks - part of it could have really sucked and now it doesn't and I am so okay with that. I embrace the not-suckiness of this and feed it grapes.
WOW. I should make a vid RIGHT NOW. Or eat something. I wonder if food will taste better?

Date: 2004-08-17 04:12 pm (UTC)I'm very glad you're okay!
I've felt that same HIGH each time after I've gotten a tattoo and I always assumed it was adrenaline. It's COOL.

Date: 2004-08-17 04:17 pm (UTC)But I'm with Mely: no more getting hit by cars. I will come give every driver in the area a stern talking-to if I have to.

Date: 2004-08-18 05:10 am (UTC)Also - back problems with a newer car and seatbelt use - well there is no mechanism of injury from the seatbelt and seatback protection for a rear end impact. I experienced that for myself yesterday.

Date: 2004-08-17 09:33 pm (UTC)Yes, yes, adrenaline, tasty food, on a post-accident high, blah blah. It's all very nice. Enjoy it while it lasts, because this is it. NO MORE BRUSHES WITH DEATH. I forbid it! I cannot lose my Sisabet!

Date: 2004-08-18 12:56 am (UTC)I'm happy to hear you and Sid are road worthy, still, even if your car isn't. And I heartily approve of your doggie seatbelt.
The least that woman can do, in my view, is send you a crate of tasty wine, while your taste buds are still tingling. It's only fair.
