Where It's At

My parents are just falling apart. I swear - I am not ready for them to get old. I am far to young for them to do this to me.
So, I won't be home tonight - instead I am collecting the dog, packing up the work files and driving to Mom's where I will be in charge of getting Daddy off to the doctor's at the ungodly hour of 6 in the morning for more tests on top of all the tests they ran last year when he was in the hospital. Mom, I will attempt to elude, as she just has knee surgery last week and really does not need to spend the day in a waiting room. Or so I keep telling her.
To tell you the truth, I not only had to breakout my stern face - I also had to break out the logic. And then I had to accuse her of climbing on the cross all the while condemning that infernal Mel Gibson for glamourizing the entire concept, anyway. Since Mom was on pain medication, she found this incredibly funny. Actually - Mom on pain meds is kinda cool. The Fundamentalist Preacher Uncle left for Morocco yesterday (missionary work and I pause a second and say WTF? And then I remember that just 2 weeks ago he actually said something about Clinton that I agreed with and now I *know* the world is ending...) and I made a crack about our family of martyrs competing to see who gets a stained glass window made about them first and she actually got it. Cool.
Then Medicated!Mommy proceded to tell me All About Smallville. Actually, Mom confided that Cappy has been watching SV with her, but Cappy won't let Mom watch a complete episode - just the Lex bits. And Cappy also keeps a running commentary designed to give Mom an insight into Lex's interior monologue.
"He really likes that Clark," Mom confided, "Though to tell you the truth, Clark *is* kind of stupid."
"But pretty," I added and Mom did agree. Clark is definitely pretty. Lex says so.
So I will not be home tonight and I will not be working on my vid tonight. But the auction vid is uploaded and finished and the Premiere vid is coming along and I have to have a talk with Cappy anyway about Slash and Mom and maybe easing up on the Lex/Clark OTP thing cause eventually her mother will not be high. Also - there is Lois. I feel the need to take up for Lois. Or as I like to call her: Chlois.

Maybe that's the secret. Maybe all our moms should be on pain meds.
