For some reason I cannot access yahoo mail from my work laptop for the last 2 days, but at home on the desktop everything is peachy. Weird.

Okay - I am here at work not working for today is a half-day and half days are stupid. Why didn't I just take the whole day off? Why? Am I easing myself into vacation? The shock of freedom might be to much for me all at once? I don't get me sometimes - Smart Girl. Stupid Vacation Schedule Choices.

Just FYI - I know I've been beta-promised to a couple of you guys but I will be outta town starting...oh in about 2 hours. I am headed to Nashville and the hospitality of [livejournal.com profile] nashvillain615 and Slayage. Where there will be discussion of all things Jossian and Buffian and Angelian and maybe even Illyrian since she is my newest favorite. I've always liked blue though...

I will not be back until some point late Monday night, as I have to stop at my parents' home on the way there and on the way back and if I time the on the way back part right, they have to feed me. It is in the Parental Handbook - right after how groundings lose effectiveness after 6 weeks and how to handle the laundry rush on the first Freshman visit home - if offspring stops by at your home in or around the time vicinity for a meal - said meal must be provided, even if you have already eaten.

I'm hoping today that they'll just kinda let me drop off Sid and go as I am already running way behind. I still have to get the oil changed on the Buick, pack, possibly wash clothes. I have no idea what I am doing actually - I was late to work this morning because I was running around like a hungover headless chicken, and I meant to do all of this last night, but an old friend from Memphis showed up and we went out and got plastered on pasta and red wine and then I came home and there was no focus. None at all. Well, none of the variety that leads to me standing up and actually doing something. I should make a list of things I need to do in order to get the HELL outta town.

One thing I will not forget are the DVDs!!! I AM FREAKED!! RESPONSIBILITY!! I PLEDGED AN OATH TO LUM! Hee.

Seriously - it looked for a while there that [livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett might not get to come and I was really proud of me cause I was actually freaking over what was going on with her and not over the possibility that I was gonna have to do this thing by myself. Then I actually got the DVDs yesterday and that is when I freaked a bit.

I keep imagining myself - ready to start the vid show, standing in front of a group of academics who for some reason - are all wearing berets and staring at me and I open my mouth and the only thing that comes out is...

"Mahwage."

And really, if one is to have a random "Princess Bride" moment at the Buffy Academic Conference - one should at least try to channel the "to the Pain" speech. At least it is fitting.

If the audience starts snapping I could well morph into Mike Myers in "So I Married An Ax Murderer"

"Woman. Wo-o-o-man"

And I kinda wanted Spike to do that as his encore. What was I talking about. Oh shit - I am still at work. Crap.

And also, because even though I like you very much, I would have to kill you then. *g*

Have fun, baybee! Give Lum and J. big huge hugs for me!

Maybe your work set up a firewall against it. I know that you can check yahoo or hotmail on my dad's work laptop.
