So Lum is not here to talk me down [glares at Lum for having a life] and I have now officially watched Donnie Darko over 5 times and listened to both commentary tracks and *all* of the deleted scenes and I haven't been this way about a movie since I was 13 and saw "The Princess Bride" for the first time.

I have my reasons.

And since Lum is not here, I am planning my [livejournal.com profile] ats_endofdays assignment and Wes is Donnie Darko.

cut for more - no real spoilers of the movie

I am this close to vidding Tears for Fears' "Head Over Heels" - I cant stress how close *this* close means. I bought "Songs from the Big Room" at my used CD store today. I also bought 34Satelite's Radar. I have no idea why - I just saw it and needed it and when I feel that way I go with it. It is how I found The Boo Radleys and I am *obsessed* with "Kingsize" so it works for me.

But I was thinking yesterday that all events in the Angelverse are tied to Wes's decision in "Sleep Tight" - everything led up to that moment and everything after stems from that moment. And I know arguably the same can be said about *any* point in time - but that is not really viddable so work with me here, okay.

But I think it could be vidded - at least this concept - looking back and connecting the dots (and I want to do this in the vid - actually physically connect dots and related points of time - I just don't know how. Yet). And I want to play with memory and reversal of time and *all* the different Wes'es we get over the years and until I saw "Donnie Darko" I was really thinking "Bittersweet Symphony" for this project (For Once In Your Life is a different Wes vid) - but BS does not take into account the inter-dependency of time and choice and destiny and I think I could get it in "Head Over Heels" - but I also think I could be a bit manic about the whole thing and that is why I am posting it here.

And normally I would just bug Lum with this for, like, days on end and now you all see why, when she is called a saint - it is not an exaggeration.

Songs from the Big Chair. Although I suppose a big chair would require a big room. If you were online now I'd offer to try to talk you down, but you're not and perhaps it's just as well because I'd be a poor substitute for Lum under the best of circumstances and right now I can hardly keep my eyes open. In conclusion, I love your manic, obsessive, spicy brains.

My AIM has died and cannot be resucitated. And they are in the big chair with their songs. Huh. I should pay more attention. I have the CD right here and everything.

My brains are not so much spicy now as deep fried or scrambled. There is tabasco on the side.

Donnie Darko makes me 12 kinds of happy. I love time travel movies that get it right. Causality is very hard to get right. A lot of people? Just do not get it. I think I danced for joy at the end. The only thing that would make it even better? If Jenna Malone had been in the background of the scene the first time the engine fell on the Darko's house.

I'm hella weirded that it's getting rereleased witha new score. I adore the score! I can't imagine the picture without it. And I'm worried that the new scenes will mess with it... But I am enjoying the idea of seeing it on the big screen (I first saw it on DVD).

Well there is nothing saying she didn't ride by before Donnie got home. In the corrected universe the reason she stops and stays is because of the family mourning outside and the strange reaction she feels when she sees Donnie's mom.

Donnie Darko!

My movie love of loves. DD and Fight Club are probably my favorite movies of the last 5 years, maybe ever, except that DD is slightly more rewatchable than FC, which I have to be in a mood for because of the grimy vilence (which is why I love it anyway.)

DD has so many wonderful lines:

“Donnie Darko, what the hell kind of name is that, it’s like some sort of super hero or something.”
“What makes you think I’m not?”

"Smurfs do not have sex."

and my favorite cause every time it makes me go all gaspy and shivery...

"Why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit?"
"Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"

Also, Moulin Rouge. Donnie Darko, Fight Club, and Moulin Rouge are my triage of film love of the last half-decade.

I think there really does need to be an AtS vid to Bittersweet Symphony. Tears for Fears would be an excellent choice, too. Love that whole album. Let me know if you need any other songs off it, and I can email them to you.

And I share your Donnie Darko love, but I have to say, I don't think I can watch it again. I went to a very darko place after I watched it. Saddest movie ever.

I love Donnie Darko. It's the kind of movie that gives me chills from just thinking about it and makes me want to run to watch it again but not really because I'll have to watch the montage before the ending and cry and think about it for days and...I'm rambling.

So, yeah. Good movie. I love Jake Gyllenhaal on the commentary. The whole pizza ramble was adorable.

Ain't it just the shit? My boyfriend has no interest in it. I hate him. *G*

And here I just deleted my Donnie Darko icon...*pout*
