Shameless Plug
Mar. 29th, 2004 04:46 pmI just made a long-ass entry about my weekend in Cincinnatti. It was funny, true and erudite and in it I explained how this weekend I drank for the firemen, almost got engaged, boogied until I just couldn't boogie no more, found out that the most romantic point in Mt Adams is also the most religious, and bonded with a 75 year old woman at 3am before going to a house party where I wore no less than 3 hats and wrote on a guy name Wes's face with a permanent marker.
It was a good time.
When I left Saturday, bidding at the auction (for me) was at $25. I was really happy to be doing something for Vividcon and I was hoping to maybe crack $50 by the end of the week. Maybe $75 at the most.
Then I came home and refreshed the page. Whoa.
So I am most decidedly not freaking out because if there is anything I do understand, it is the desire to see a vid or to support Vividcon. And I think the support that has been shown is just so wonderful, man. ::misty:: I really want this auction to be a success, because I think it is a fabulous idea, and it will really help the con.
So - Announcement Again: If you missed this the first time - or just need reminding - we are auctioning off vidders. To make vids for you - you perverts! There are over 30 fandoms represented - if you don't see the fandom in which you yearn for a vid listed - email the vidder. Sometimes things can be worked out. Like
drdawn -- more than anything - in fact her whole life - she has wanted the song "Against All Odds" vidded correctly to the movie "Against All Odds." Dawn, while not known for being a paragon of good taste, at least recognizes that it is better to show Rachel Ward and scruffy Jeff Bridges in various stages of undress and/or emotional upheaval, than Phil Collins and cheesey water over the lens effects.
Now - if she wants me to make this vid for her - she is gonna have to make it for the benefit of Vividcon. But she has been thinking about this since she hit puberty and that was a loooonnng time ago - so I think she needs to get to bidding.
You know how they say every woman has her price? Well - um, we hit mine at some point yesterday and right now I am totally on board with making whoever the winning bidder is, the vid that they have always wanted, in the fandom of their dreams. Whatever that may be. I am almost willing to even consider Celine Dion. I get caught up in these moments, you see... I'll freak out about being a total failure later while making the vid, but for now I am down with you and your bad-self vid ideas.
So email the vidder you will be bidding on if in doubt - I know I don't have some fandoms like "The X-Files" and "Roswell" listed - because I lack source - but if you can get the source to me - then yeah - I can do that - but always check first. I know a lot of the other vidders are open to movies - (Cary Grant,
missmurchison, Cary Grant).
But go and bid now. Bid often. Do it for America and puppies and Elvis and horses but most importantly, do it for the vids, man. De vids.

I so want you for my little vid-slave, so want you. And yeah, for that thing I emailed you about. I want it like Dawn wants AAO . . . although not for as long. Obviously. Email will be sent soon.
Isn't it nice to be wanted? LOL

Date: 2004-03-30 05:13 am (UTC)You know... it could even be multiple movies starring Cary Grant - kind of a retrospective - depends on what you want. The music again -- totally up to you. Who else is gonna say that to you Miss M?
I'll vid Cary Grant and I'll make him Spike and I will do it to Polish Disco Music if you want me too.

Date: 2004-03-29 06:16 pm (UTC)I have every episode of Roswell on my computer, including some deleted scenes. If I shove them at you, does that mean I get a video shoved back at me...
Oh... wait.... I have to actually bid on you and have an idea for a vid to be made. Damn that's a shame. The Roswell fandom lacks good vids. ::sigh::

Date: 2004-03-30 05:03 am (UTC)Actually - no. Well, I mean - yes, you have to bid on me, but in this case (see it goes case by case) you could just get me the source, and tell me what characters and pairings you like, and if you don't want to come up with the song or idea - I can do that. I am a full-service vidder. You could just say: Roswell, pain and angst, featuring Tess - OR - Roswell; adorable fun with a side of alien-weirdness Max/Michael. I'd fill out the rest.

Date: 2004-03-29 10:19 pm (UTC)The first time I read your post, I kind of skimmed through it, I thought it said "Do me for the vids, man." and I thought "Oh, it's *that* kind of auction."
Heh.
