Dec. 16th, 2002 11:35 amThe response I've gotten since I posted Closer is so tremendous... to everyone that has taken the time to let me know that they downloaded the vid and enjoyed it, thank you. It really means a lot too me and currently I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. Myrtle was worried that I would take this as an excuse to further procrastinate and delay finishing vids, so I'm not gonna let that happen just to spite her (which was probably her plan in bringing up the subject in the first place since she is very insightful and devious). She also simultaneously encourages me to work on my Farscape vid idea and sends me the perfect Angel song. Damn. Need a break from the lovable doof... but this song...
Christmas shopping progress was made this weekend. Cappy if you are reading this: you are done. Finito. I've blown way too much on you already. Seriously. Don't look at me like that...okay... maybe just one more present. But that is it.
I'd talk about my uncle and the fact that he is normally the hardest person I know to shop for - except for this year - and why... but he does know where the LJ is and has been known to stop by on a rare occasion. (But I'll give you a big hint: it rhymes with "Paul Stanley Bobble Head" -I would have gotten Gene Simmons but he scares the children). Fine. I can't keep a secret. Cappy - wanna know what Dawn got you?
Saturday the mall got so rough that I grabbed the boy and went to an Anime store. He actually tricked me a bit by referring to it as a comic book store, which it was so not! But on the bright side while the boy was puzzling over what Sailor Moon product to buy his girlfriend (that I'm not supposed to know about) and which RobotTech he wants more, I found a nifty sale bin box in the back. My exact squeal was, "Ohhh!! Action Figures!!" They had the "Fight the Future" Mulder and Scully (Cappy long ago appropriated mine) and Chiana and D'Argo. Now all I need is Crichton. Mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I said Crichton. She just hmmmed. I guess it would help if I explained who or what a Crichton is... I'll probably get the "Jurassic Park" series. Sigh.

I can't count how many times I've watched it.
It still makes me sweat.

Date: 2002-12-16 06:14 pm (UTC)closer response
Date: 2002-12-16 07:49 pm (UTC)I gushed about your S/A vid in my LJ, and thought I'd just copy over what I said there here for you instead of re-typing it:

Ok, I've been avoiding it for a while, but I finally watched sisabet's Spike/Angel vid to Nine Inch Nails' Closer. Although I totally agree that if vamps were real they'd be bisexual, and if Buffyverse was real, Angel and Spike would so have a sex history, for the most part, I don't pay attention to slash. Except on occaision to affectionately mock Spike's manliness (see lj-icon).
But holy shit, is this video cool.
I watched it once, then had to go mop the kitchen. But as soon as I was done, I ran back and watched it again. And then I commented here.
Because it rocks.
Edited to add:
Watched it a third time, in full screen form.
I loved the swtiching back and forth between Angel and Spike while they had close-ups with looks of pain/anguish/estacy. And the flashy-soul parts with the words "You bring me closer to God". And the dialogue overlay was brilliant.
Damn me if those wooden stakes/spikes being shot out at the end wasn't a deliberately phallic image.

Date: 2002-12-16 09:12 pm (UTC)I was just now thinking of ways in my head to describe it other than Spike/Angel. Among the ideas were:
"The bondage vid"
"actually a good example of vampires killing people"
"the angry sexual tension video"
and
"the mean scary people video"

Date: 2002-12-16 10:05 pm (UTC)Huh. No. Not quite.
I personally always go for Vamps in Chains.
That's an apt description.

Date: 2002-12-17 12:11 am (UTC)"She walks in Beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!"
