I am at work.

That has to be the most boring opening blog line ever. Now you all know exactly how I feel at work. I am absolutely, mind-numbingly bored beyond all reason. I am also uninspired and unchallenged and I am tired of trying to at least exercise creativity in my log notes. There is nothing creative at all in a liability decison. It is cut and dry - this is what happened, this is the evidence, this is the duty breached (or not) and this is the outcome. Bang, hiss, boom. Done.

I wanna be at home playing with Premiere. It is only 3:45!!! Gah!!

I have something that qualifies as good news if you turn it upside down and look at it kinda squinty: work gave me a laptop so I can work from home. This doesn't mean I now work at home. No. I would love to work at home. This means that the time I am not in the office - otherwise known as "free" or "recreational" time can now be spent dialed up and working from - you guessed it - home. There is no additional pay involved, this is just one of those new things that you roll with.

When I squint, it becomes positive because tomorrow, when I am knee deep in a vid, I won't be feeling guilty that I am not at the office getting caught up. I will be feeling guilty that I am ignoring the laptop set up 10 feet away. My guilt has now jumped to a much closer proximity! Fabulous. I like it when things are at least within arms length and my guilt counts as one of those things.

One great thing about working in insurance: when I'm on a plane and the person next to me mistakenly believes I want to be his or her new best friend EVAH, I turn to them and with just a slighly wild look in my eye say, "I work in insurance! Do you want to talk about it for one to five hours!"

And then, miraculously, they have a lot of work to do and I can play solitaire in peace.

Great idea. I usually take that opportunity to ask if they have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, but I gotta say - the insurance thing would probably work even better.

I guess that's better than flicking imaginary head lice off my shoulders. I'll take that under advisement.

I hear you . . . as I sit here, at 7 p.m. on a Sunday night, reviewing a spreadsheet so boring that I can't remember which cell I looked at last.
