Nov. 6th, 2002 09:43 pmThe most important thing I learned watching Smallville last night: Did you see Bo's tractor - the blue one? Right after Bo leaves in his truck and crazy lady walks up, there is a great shot of this blue tractor. There are a few more shots of it in the episode, but it was late and I was tired when I watched so I don't remember exactly where they are. The point of all this is that my father has that exact same tractor. Cool, huh? I was never allowed to drive that tractor - it's the "good" one. Also, apparently I admired the "chicken" scene in Footloose way too much to ever be trusted with driving one unsupervised. So, while all my girlfriends got the easy job of slowly pulling a setter down row after endless row, sitting up high, wearing a bikini top and working on their tans, I had to sit hunched over in the setter, getting tobacco gum stuck under my nails, with Dawn mocking me for being slow "C'mon, I'm setting lefthanded! And I'm still picking up your misses!" Of course we didn't use the good tractor for setting tobacco - it was just for bush-hogging and the like.
Can someone make me an LJ icon of that tractor?

Date: 2002-11-09 04:01 pm (UTC)I was at the hellmouth today (AKA the local shopping mall) and I noticed that there is a store entirely devoted to selling toy tractors and other tractor paraphenalia. This cheered me immensely. I'm always glad to find that there are lots of people in the world who have hobbies that I find as odd as my obsession with certain TV shows and books. (I hope they wouldn't be indignant to find out I considered collecting high-priced model tractors and very expensive books with pictures of tractors odd. I find what I do for fun odd as well.) It just reassures me that even if I'm not sane, there are plenty of other people out there at least as crazy as I am.
I didn't notice any blue tractors, though.
Oh, this is Miss Murchison
those catchy Mitsubishi commercials

I was always a die-hard about old cars having a "personality" and nicknames, etc. Well I don't have a nickname for my car and it doesn't have a particular smell. But I am LOVING the sunroof and the HEATED SEATS are from heaven. I don't think I could ever own a car without them now (unless I live a warmer climate). Plus it's nice to have a car that I don't have to keep taking in for repairs.
Plus, since the economy is crap right now, you can do one of those, zero down, zero percent, no payments until 2003 type deals (of course, it sucks to start paying for a car when it's already a year old, but then again, think of it as having a car free for a year...)
Oh well, good luck, you would look hot on a blue tractor too...
