I Left the House Today
May. 10th, 2003 09:24 pmIf you knew how long I sat here this morning and just wanted to get up and do something and continued to sit and do nothing, you would know that I am justifiably proud that I left the house today.
What did I do? Well funny you should ask, since I am not allowed to really shop at this time as I do not as yet have employment in the city where Dawn is moving and it is appearing like I will be needing to find an apartment here in Memphis in the next two months - so the wise woman would be saving her money now, right? I am proud that I bought no clothes - yep - J. Crew and Banana Republic called to me and I ignored them, even though I was certain there would be stuff on both of the $9.99 racks. I even resisted Old Navy and the solid promise of cheap clothes there. Instead I purchased 6 DVDs:
Listing de Loot
Best Buy:
8 Mile (for Dawn)
X-Men 1.5 (for the Boy)
Ink Cartridges (for me)
I went to Walmart because I wanted to get one of those sun-shade things for my car, but I was distracted upon arrival by a bin of DVDs for $5.00. Five Fucking Dollars! -yeah, for the most part the movies really sucked, remember "Nothing But Trouble" or "Gun Men"??? Yeah, I don't either...but I found "Freeway"!!! I love that movie - so the take at Walmart:
Freeway
Suicide Kings
The Misfits
Hotel New Hampshire (Jodie Foster has sex with a girl in a bear suit, at least I think she does, my memory is really faulty lately...whatever failings the movie has, it is worth it for that alone).
I forgot to buy the shade thing.
My arm hurts. I stopped by Hollywood Video before Best Buy and the guy that worked there looked so much like Steve Buscemi that I walked into a door. I also kinda fell down the steps today as well, but I do that everyday. Note to self: Next apartment needs to be stair-free.
I need a haircut. It is really getting long and J. is sick of the bun-look for work. He said he wants to take me to the hairdresser, sit me down and yell, "Fix It!!" The "it" is probably referring to me more than my hair.
This is getting too stream-of-consciousy so I'm done - all of ya'll go and read
sockkpuppett's post about Angel cause it made me think. Which can be a good thing. Maybe.

Date: 2003-05-10 10:56 pm (UTC)I can't find an emoticon that says the above post was not meant to be ironic; I really believe what I just typed. Why is there no emoticon for that? Come to think of it, why do people who fly on airplanes all the time not grasp the concept that some carry-ons are just too damn big? Why did I just receive a virtual Mother's Day card in a language I don't read? Why is the most popular story on CNN.com right now the news that a Portland hospital wants to hire someone fluent in Klingon to help communicate with patients? Why am I not asleep right now?
maj ram (Apparently, that's Klingon for "good night.")

Date: 2003-05-11 12:01 pm (UTC)Story of my life. Walk into a store for milk, come out $100 poorer and no milk. Why am I so easily ... distracted?
I've never been able to find anything I'd wanted in those cheap bins (oh, no, NOT ME. I've gotta crave the expensive ones) so I'm gleefully glad someone I like did.
