It's true our country has far more resources than, say, Iraq or Bangledesh (sp?), although it's also historically the poor/average citizen who is the first to donate when someone needs help. It hasn't helped that our own government has been seen as moving incredibly slowly, regarding putting things in motion. Maybe if we hadn't sent all our National Guard to fight in the war, we'd have more troops available to provide aid to the Gulf coast. *sigh*

I'm also not looking forward to seeing the gas prices leap up 40+ cents a gallon. I think our country has still to realize just how horrific and widespread the damage is and how it's going to effect all of us.
