So you seem to have a stronger emotional connection to the music (which you didn't create) than to the vid (which you did). Am I getting that right?
I guess it makes sense. It can be hard to be moved by your own work. And with vidding, the song moves us *first*, and it's because the song moves us that we want to do the work in the first place -- have to make *that* particular vid.
It's taken me a long while to get to the point where I don't just automatically go "You don't like ___? You Philistine! What's the matter with you, anyway?" I'm trying to be more open with my own tastes, allowing as how hey, I can like Eminem, who knew? means that I shouldn't judge where others find their joy. But it's hard.
And all of this is suddenly seeming very related to elynross' post the other day about taste and privileging the objective (http://www.livejournal.com/users/elynross/225291.html).
