The Velveteen Tree

Totally crashing -- but before I do, I must post a conversation that has given me the strength and hope and also - a brand new story in my head!

Conversations with Lum -- The Christmas Edition:


sisabet: I am off next monday
Luminosity: cool!
sisabet: and not doing anything at all
sisabet: put the tree away
sisabet: well
Luminosity: and you should! not do anything
sisabet: find a place to put the tree
sisabet: where should I put the tree?
Luminosity: is it a real tree or a fake tree?
sisabet: fake tree
sisabet: I am afraid of real trees
sisabet: not like phobic
Luminosity: Can you take it apart or does it, like, fold up?
Luminosity: Or! you can decorate it for every holiday!
sisabet: I just am convinced I will kill many people with one
Luminosity: I understand. it's a fire trap.
sisabet: it is huge
sisabet: and it is in 3 parts
sisabet: and the lights on it used to work
sisabet: but they don't now and so I got it for free (Mom's old tree)
Luminosity: You could put little hearts on it for Valentines and little log cabins on it for Lincoln's b'day. and little shamrocks for st Patricks and little umbrellas for the entire month of april and little flowers for may!
sisabet: and I just added some lights
Luminosity: And mardi gras beads for february!
sisabet: but this is me
Luminosity: and stuff! It could be a holiday all year round!
sisabet: I'll *want* to do all those things
Luminosity: yeah. me too. and then.. and then...
sisabet: but in the end - It will just be a Batman tree
sisabet: O Batman Tree

sisabet: how gloomy is your lack of light
sisabet: I am thinking about dragging it to the curb
sisabet: It doesn't light up anymore
Luminosity: well, then you should drag it to the curb and speak a few words over it.
sisabet: and I just won't say anything to Mom and she will never think to ask
sisabet: all those people with real trees will be ditching them soon
sisabet: I can just act like I got confused
sisabet: "I thought we were all supposed to put them out here!"
Luminosity: this is a plan
sisabet: but will the guilt be worth it
sisabet: what kind of guilt will I feel?
sisabet: what level?
sisabet: if it is under a 4 then no problem
Luminosity: for throwing out your mom's tree?
sisabet: I get 4 rated guilt for everything
sisabet: yeah
Luminosity: your mom's old, worn out tree that doesn't work anymore?
sisabet: but it could possibly be a 5-8
Luminosity: NO GUILT. You will have done the entire family a service!
Luminosity: You made the sacrifice of hte tree!
Luminosity: You knew it would KILL a lesser person to have to deal with it.
sisabet: but it is still pretty
Luminosity: die young stay pretty?
Luminosity: the SACRIFICES YOU'VE MADE HERE@@
sisabet: and she had it all set up in the abandoned house with all the other abandoned treees
sisabet: and it will be christmas again one day
Luminosity: It would have just faded away, but instead? You're giving it the chance to go out in a blaze of glory with the other trees.
Luminosity: It'll be a REAL TREE now!! The Velveteen Tree!
