Apple as a nickname is fine. Hell, Apple as a given name is fine if the child is named for your laptop. I was named for 2 aunts. I consider both to be appropriate sources. But just naming her Apple - well that is pretentious. IMO. But I think everything she does is pretentious - it is kinda how I know what is pretentious and what isn't.
And yes Slider beats Iceman, but Iceman beats Maverick and Goose beats Iceman but Maverick beats Goose. It is like Rock, Paper, Scissors only with shirtless volleyball.
