In my upstairs master bathroom, there is a little red button and a little black button on one of the outlets. this is, apparently, the 'grounding button' and for some reason, if it's not pushed in, not only to the outlets in the bathroom not working, but the outside lights also are off. So check to see if there's something weird like that either on your kitchen outlets or your bathroom outlets.
