Hey! A new "Community" tonight, which is awesome! Even more awesome is seeing people on my flist talking about the show. Yay.
I was gonna do a pimp post, complete with picspam and my theory that Abed isn't on the spectrum, he's just the only cast member who actually realizes he is on a television sitcom and there are rules, but meh. My desktop is haunted and I can't vid on it without endangering my mortal soul so I'm stuck making literal shlock on the laptop and my fannish mode might be headed towards "selfish."
Anyway, the best method I've found for converting other people is just sitting them down and having them watch an episode. Seriously, people - it is 24 minutes out of your life and you will laugh your ass off. Where is the bad there??? I recommend 1x03 "Introduction to Film" as the first episode. The show has really started moving forward here and the first two eps are getting you there (I mean, they are funny -- it is just "Introduction to Film" is amazing but not as amazing as Paintball but you don't know about Paintball because you are a silly LOSER who hasn't watched Community so get on that, okay? It is never too late for personal improvement).
At this point I'd post a Troy/Abed vid to a Jason Derulo song except it's supposed to premiere at Bascon. So whenever that is over, I'll post a Troy vid. Featuring Abed. Cause that is how I roll. I could post amazing Troy/Abed scenes from youtube, but no. You need to watch the episodes to be rewarded with the amazingness that is them. I could tell you that they have serious conversations about serious things and that Troy is going to college to better understand HBO shows like "The Wire" and Abed gets that but you have to watch first to even get that! They are Bert and Ernie and also? THAT SHIT IS CANON!
I mean I could tell you there was a pivotal scene where Troy and Abed sang (dueted? Is dueted a word?) "Somewhere Out There" the song from Fievel Goes West, but obviously you don't care! Also there is no time like the present -- this is a sitcom! Remember back in the day before LJ and before torrenting and Hulu and DVDs and how many fricking shows did you watch from the beginning? NONE EXCEPT FOR WHO'S THE BOSS!!! (Yes, I know all about you and your Who's the Boss fixation and I really thought you'd nominate it for festivids except you didn't and so now I can't make you that Tony/Angela vid of your heart set to "Push It"). Remember when watching television wasn't work and you could just turn to what is on and not have to wait cause "Oh man, I am still three weeks behind!" and all this does is make you watch shit you'd normally never even care about cause the stuff you do care about is suddenly, like, out of reach! I AM WATCHING JERSEY SHORE INSTEAD OF MY DVR AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHYYYYYYY??? Who is this JWWOW and why is she all up in Angelina's grille? WHY DO I KNOW WHAT A GRILLE IS??
You can tune into Community tonight! Yes, even if you've never seen an episode before -- you can do this. You can be strong and learn to laugh and live and love and we'll dance in the moonlight and hold hands on the front porch and stuff they only do in really bad country music songs that you don''t want to admit you know, but you totally know (I saw that Trisha Yearwood CD under the front seat of the car. It's okay. The song does remember when). And when it is over, you can come back here and we'll discuss anything that possibly went over you head. Like last week there was a running gag with Troy, and Spiderman and Twitter and that is just cause of the actor that plays him and stuff that happened on the intarwebs this summer and it was actually charming and amazing and now I don't have any interest in the new Spiderman movie cause they messed up the casting.
Oh - also, I saw a lot of people talking about everything but the opening, the pan thru the different bedrooms --- was it just me and wishful thinking or was it kinda a tribute to "A Different World?"
I am so totally considering a Dwayne Wayne character study for a festivid request. You have NO IDEA.
