How much do I love the fact that on Dawn's birthday,I came home to presents in the mail? Life is so freaking good and even better thanks to ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
batwrangler and the Bonanza DVDs she sent me (and can Hoss vids really be that far behind? God, the Cartwrights - Lorne was Daddy Adama before Daddy Adama was cool!) and heres_luck who managed to find Uncle Tupelo I didn't have (and OMG! So freaking happy and excited) and another CD that on first listen is reeeeeaally hitting some kinda music receptor thingy I got going. And the best part was the note that made me all smiley.

Now - I have things to do and people to see and files to vanquish but first: HELP!
I have 2 Orders of Business Today:
1. As most of you know;sockkpuppett has recently posted a request for Angel and Firefly vid rec's. It is really important -- SLAYAGE -- so if you missed her post for whatever reason and have something you want to suggest - please get to her LJ post haste:

If for some reason you are scared of Luminosity? WTF? Send me an email please so I can yell at you and then ruffle your hair and reassure you that you are totally being an idiot. Seriously, an idiot. Go and rec what you want to rec on her LJ. Doofus. *said with love and exasperation*
2. My Flo-Bee-Wan is back in the country and reminding me of a promise I recently made - to fill up the gap that isf1renze and Country Music. To that end I have over 87 songs that I am currently winnowing thru to determine what is an absolute Must Have in the Musical Edumacation of the C&W Novice. Right now I am thinking 2 groupings:
A. Influential, Important, and Just Damned Fine Music
B. Country Pop or Don't Let the Doorknob Hit You in the Sequined Ass on Your Way Out
I'm also finding that there are certain songs I would never in a million years classify as country which are suddenly making the playlist because they are tangentially important. Like "Free Bird" - you have to know "Free Bird" cause....cause it is "Free Bird!"
So, while I already have a good idea about what is making the cut and the list -- there could be oversights. So if you have ideas for songs that just *have* to make either playlist - comment here. Again, remember - I'm opening up the genre consideration tremendously (although I did decide to not classify The Band's "The Weight" as country...but mainly because I have a cover of Marty Stuart and the Staple Singers doing that song and OMG, that is like...3.8 genres right there. I love melded music!)
