Monday Is a Day of the Week
Jul. 19th, 2004 03:07 pmOkay - first things first - if you are like me, you tend to miss a lot in LJ on the weekends so just as a PSA, I'd like to remind everyone that Luminosity has finished her Wes/Mindwipe trilogy of vids that began with "So Real" was continued in "Prophecy" and now is completed with "Here." - In the final vid she brings it all full circle from the tangential "existence" of something extremely strange that Wes can't quite name in "So Real" to his anger and violation at Angel's unilateral decision in "Prophecy" and finally - understanding and also despair in "Here."
At this point Lum has firmly convinced me that Wes, having studied at the feet of the master, has finally graduated to firmly selecting "It Sucks to Be Wes" as a lifestyle choice.

I am happy to report that in between my work insanity and horrible business trips that plagued my generous donor,
missmurchison and I have completed the Vividcon Auction vid. I'll be uploading it tonight. I'm pleased and Miss M is pleased and together we are all sorts of pleased. Perhaps there is some smugness. Maybe that is just Spike. I'm glad we finished what we set out to do and it was an extremely interesting process in combining perspectives on a single character. Miss M is mainly used to working with the verbal, but she jumped in and focussed on the visual like a pro, giving me themes and ideas and juxtopositions and a song. She had one really brilliant insight that I could not fit into this vid - but I am actually gonna hoard it for a later project. Seeing as how she inspired the end of Closer, I was not surprised by any of this.
I thought I would be exhausted finishing the auction vid, but I was strangely energized - I think it may have been all that "In the Same Universe as Angel and Not Vidding Him" that went on. Seriously, have I made an AtS vid that was not about Angel or Angel POV...ever? "Without Me" maybe - but to me that is all about how Lilah beats Angel. Because it is All About Angel, even when it is about Lex Luthor. Don't even get me started on Brian Kinney... So I started on my premiere vid and kinda went into a blackout state on it. I'd call if vid farr but it is more like Vid Fugue. I remember clipping stuff and then working on parts and then the next thing I know it is six hours later and I've got an intro. Cool. Also I am in love with the Panasonic DV codec. I know, I know, I said I was in love with Huffyuv before , but I was so young and naive back then. I thought even though Huffy has an incompatible frame rate and huge size we could still make it work. That was before I knew how good it could be and I owe a big huge whopping thanks to
astolat when I see her in August for this post: http://www.livejournal.com/users/astolat/51221.html
Also, lately I have been reading and re-reading comic books/graphic novels and I blame
tzikeh and you should too because it is fun *and* educational. She is like the schoolhouse rocks of fandom. Anyhoo, I re-read "The Dark Knight Returns" cause
aexia told me to and I had forgotten a lot of it and I missed even more the first time I read it (remind me to reread everything I ever read before 1990, 'kay? I don't think I was paying attention). Dude. Angel. All I am sayin'...
The Boy is decidedly into "Teen Titans" now and making noises about "Robin" which I encourage since reading is always a struggle for him and anything that rewards it is of the good. I'm actively pushing "Ultimate Spiderman" since I think he could get caught up fairly easily and Peter Parker is the same age as him in the series. The Boy is also attempting to beta my vid in progress, telling me that my interpretation of the line "Hot Shit" was just too literal. He was right, but still - the little dude wants to come over to my place, drink all my fruit punch, filch my comic books and make me watch "The Coneheads" he can stop teasing me about my literal interpretations of Mos Def's lyrics. I'm just saying... I've decided to take advantage of his presense today - I gave him a load of towels and told him to run across the street and wash them while his mom is at work.
Today towels, tomorrow...the swiffer. My house may yet be clean again. Least he could do would be to walk the dog...
